Do You Eat Pork?

Lately I have been not eating it. What about you??

And now I think on it I remember my first experience with it. It was absolutely disgusting. Later on my dad had me try bacon. I fell in love. Anymore though I don't eat it when I think about where it came from.

Pork is the last meat I ate before going vegetarian.

I hate bacon as well.

I dont not eat pork...but i generally avoid it without realizing it.

Pork chops i avoid along with any pork sausages and especially bacon. I avoid pulled pork and other barbecue pork

I stopped eating it after I had my gallbladder removed. Fucks my stomach all up.

I understand why someone would think it's gross. Unlike chicken and beef, pork's flavor varies pretty damn drastically. There are quite a few cuts that I do not find palatable at all. I can't really explain why, it just has this "dirty" taste to it. A specific one. I LOVE crawfish and it also has a "dirty" taste to it, but that flavor is good somehow.

I do eat pork, but not often. The most common meat I use is chicken. It's cheap and very versatile. Cheap chicken usually tastes the same as the expensive stuff (free range, "organic", name brand, etc). It is possible to buy shitty chicken by only buying cheap chicken, but it's only happened to me once. I bought a chicken to throw on the rotisserie that was cheap as hell, and the fucking shit was literally like trying to eat rubber. I don't mean it was overcooked and tough as you would say for a steak, it was literally like chewing on a rubber ball or a handful of rubber bands. I've cooked many chickens that way before and after the incident and none have ever been like that. I don't know why it as like that, but I know it wasn't an error on my part.

IMO the best uses for pork are those that you're going to use a ton of seasonings/spices that drown out the pork flavor. Mexican food for example. Tacos/fajitas or Posole are two good examples. BBQ/smoking is another good example. All are going to be overpowered by the marinades/seasonings.

Thats probably the best explanation for pork Shroomslip. It definitely has a dirty flavor to it. A lot of it can come from who raised it, and what the pigs were fed. It can be the cuts specifically, but a huge part of it is also how it is seasoned. Ive had some Pork Tamales that literally melted in my mouth and made me have a food orgasm. Ive also had Pork Tamales that made me feel like I was going to puke and gave me an upset stomach after one bite.

Most of the time, I try to limit my meat intake since its one of the biggest factors in unsustainablity and the degradation of our planet. Because I only eat it like once a week or less, I usually use chicken myself. But you better bet that there are a few mexican joints Ill hit up that have the best pork tamales. There used to be this lady in a truck that would drive by my work and sell us tamales once a week. Her Tamales were the best, she said her dad raised the pork and made the tamales.

Ham is shit and only palatable as a diluent on a cheap American style pizza. All other pork is at least decent. In fact pork comprises of my favourite meat. I fucking love pork chops and roast pork.
