how do i change the start up /shut down screen on wondows 98se?

Let's see...its been a while..
Ah, I have it now! If you look in your C:/Windows directory, you'll find three files; Logo.sys (which is actually the start-up BMP), Logow.sys (Which is the "Windows is shutting down" BMP) and  LOGOS.SYS (which is the "You may shut..."BMP) You can substitute any picture you want, provided it is a 320x400 pixel BMP and you rename to the respective files. There are several programs which you can use to resize and convert JPG's to BMP's. Hope that helps! :laugh:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
If the wallpaper key doesn't exist create it as a string value. Put a .bmp in the WINNT dir and point the key at it. This will set the background of the login screen in 2000 and XP.
