Flat screen monitor
    #2203510 -

What's up everyone. I am working with like a 14 inch crt that is over 7 years old. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when Santa put a flat screen monitor under the christmas tree. Only problem is that my bud that works at best buy says the refresh rate on it sucks. I am gonna take it back and drop some extra bones to upgrade it to a 19 inch. What is the refresh rate, and which model should I get? My current model is a Samsung SyncMaster 17" TFT-LCD Flat-Panel Monitor - Black. I was looking at maybe getting the Envision 19" TFT-LCD Flat-Panel Monitor. Help me out here, my eyes are aching.

Refresh rate is how often the image is refreshed. The lower the refresh rate (in ms), the higher quality picture you will get.

Do not get any LCD with a refresh rate greater than 25ms, or you will regret it later.

Don't spend more than $600 on a 19'', or you are paying too much.
Superb deals are <$500 for a 19''.
17'' are good deals @ $300, but not a penny more.

Resolutions should be at least 1280x1024, else it is not very good quality imo.

Before you do anything, search online. www.resellerratings.com shows you the lowest price and reputability of the online seller.

You will also want to check out the monitor's dot pitch. This is measured in mm. The lower the dot pitch, the crisper the image. Dot pitch's are around .15mm to .30mm.

Thanks daba, I too am interested in flat screen monitors.

I've been wanting to get a new monitor for a few months now and I haven't had time to do any research. So if anyone else has any input on quality and specs/prices to look for please post. I'm interested in just a 15" or 17" monitor.

Thanks
Lana
