nobody drinks to get drunk or have fun anymore. its all social status and drinking 'whats in'(generally whats most expensive) and giving unsolicited comments about the beer they're drinking or advice about what you should drink

What I find funny is you like good food and whiskey. Both can be complex and overly stimulating on your senses. Same with beer or wine. They can also be simple. The fact that craft beer is on the rise in popularity kinda proves that people enjoy it. Why would people spend money on something that doesn't taste good? That they don't enjoy? Doesn't make sense. I sell craft beer for a living. Yeah some are hipster. Some are also doctors, lawyers, drug dealers, dickheads, parents, lovers, butcher's, and etc.
Learn to respect people's interests buddy. Might make some real friends rather than soaking in the suck of your bloated ego.

If you're trying to get slammed on craft and you haven't got the stomach for it yet i suggest liquor.

Like every type of liquor or food for that matter gives a different feel.

I'm not a fan of super hoppy and think something like a rebel ipa is too much while i reallt enjoy the crispness and hop bite on a two-hearted ipa ale.

IPA's a bastard beer. The only reason it exists is so it wouldn't sour on the long treks to trade. Nobody designed that trash for flavor and you're literally out of your mind if you think any of them could ever manage to taste good.

Anything made well isn't simple. The light pilsner beers you probably drink aren't simple. It just sounds like to me that you have an irritable palate and you like bland beer. I like light beers too but enjoy sours, hopped up ipas, and bourbon barrel stouts as well.
