This may be true in some areas of the world. I'm not sure if it is within humanity. Can you give me some links/URLS for sources.

I personally believe in freewill. If you choose to be gay you can be. If you choose not to you don't have to be.

Maybe this is boiling over into the "Born gay" subject.

However I think if a persons will is strong enough it does not matter what your body make up/chemistry wants. We have the ability of freewill. A mentally sane person can control them selves. Some one might be tempted to murder some one, but simply having a temptation does not make them a murderer. Have some will power!!

I think people are born with being subject to temptations. The choices they make in life makes them who they are.

Free will is the ability to choose between different possible courses of action.

Just my thoughts on the subject. What do you think?

I'm glad for you that at the least you can celebrate diversity. That's the least you can do. Which is good.

I'm not sure if your implying that I do not. I feel what ever other people do is great for them, as for me personally it may be a different story. I have worked with and smoked much weed with gay people :shrug: It's not a big deal.

I can in fact do that. I'm not sure if this is the same Ben Carson-related link posted by someone earlier or not, but it was inspired by his comments on being gay being a choice.

The article itself holds links to sources of the studies cited within.

I truly do believe willpower is important, and a strong indicator of successful people especially. However, will has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It affects plenty of things in life, but who you wanna bang just isn't one of them. That's the reason conversion therapy doesn't work. You can will yourself not to have sex with someone, but you can't will your biology to not be wired to be attracted to them. Earlier at some point you mentioned something about believing in the spirit, and the difference between being gay in mind vs. action. I didn't say anything about it then, but your actions and your feelings don't have to match up. I could go have sex with a woman, but at the end up the day, I'll still be sexually attracted to men. If you haven't already, I would advise you to look up the Kinsey scale. It measures sexual orientation from 1 to 6, one being completely heterosexual and six being completely homosexual. Kinsey argued that the vast majority of individuals fell between 2 and 5 anyway, so you could argue msot of us are at least a little gay or a little straight.

Also to agree with you. For some people it is probably so deep that it is their spirit them selves. I am a firm believer in the human spirit. Now these are my personal beliefs, not pushing this on others.

I believe for some people being gay may be in the soul (maybe a mix in the body) and for others it may be in their spirit.

Spirit, soul, body is how I see it. These are personal beliefs. I think if your root is love and not of evil then you have the ability to choose to be gay or not. If your root is evil and you happen to be born gay then maybe you don't have a say in for being gay down to the core. These are personal beliefs that follow up under Christianity and not meant to offend any one.

I guess what its saying is that most of us are attracted to the same sex to an extent. We are all individuals and that's for the individual to decide. No one else knows your heart but you.

I'm just left wondering who really deserves equal rights because who is truly equal? I could care less about homosexuals because I'm not one. Homosexuality 50 years ago was concitered equal to beastiality or pedophilia a blatent deviant behavior, I just wonder when everyone is just going to accept everything as normal or are we we just going to finally kill everyone who is different like in the purge. If I had to take a guess, we'll continue to zero in on new social groups to defend when enough members of a population see that they're being mistreated in some way. I can't really imagine what those'll be like. Probably something we consider absolutely ridiculous now.

I am a lesbian and I understand what he's saying.  When you go around wearing your sexuality on your sleeve, of course people are going to have preconceived notions about you.  If you were raised to think gay people were deviants and you're not smart enough to think for yourself, you're going to perceive a flamboyant man/butch girl in a negative way.  If you're not smart enough to think for yourself, then you're going to view a homosexual as a threat and take any means necessary to eliminate it.

People don't like it when you shove stuff in their faces because you're forcing it on them.  If someone forces something on you, you'd probably fight back too.
