Making PRINTS & SPORE SOLUTION
    #5072074 -

LOL, I don't mean to sound anal.... on the subject.

Don't make DIRTY prints.

Disposable medical type exam gloves are dirt cheap, as are face masks & surgical caps (hair covering). And/or, a use GLOVE BOX.

A pair of big ass tweezers & bandage removal type scissors are also inexpensive.

With sanitized bandage removal type scissors you can CLIP a stem off right under the cap. The scissors are broad enough, you can move the cap to your printing material, held in place on top the scissors with the sanitized tweezers.

I print caps, just as the VEIL begins to break & tear away. Which minimizes the gills exposure to open air. The tweezers are also well suited for removing excess veil material.

For personal use, the best thing to lay prints on is GLASS. Single strength glass is dirt cheap. It takes almost no skill to cut a large sheet into multiples of 4X4 inch squares (or have a glass shop cut you a bunch).

Two glass slides can be taped together with Scotch tape, one over the other.

With a sanitized paint scraper type razor blade, or box cutter blade you can scrape off spores from glass slides ....WITH EASE.

To me "prints" is exactly where you should exercise every degree of sterility one can muster.

If you trade your prints, your name/reputation is on the line.

Dirty prints make dirty syringes, that make contaminated grain jars.

Streaking agar petri's with spores to isolate clean myc is laborious.

For ease of syringe making, print your caps in the bottom of a sanitized WIDE MOUTH glass jar (1/2 pint, pint or quart).

JUST RIG A LID, AS YOU WOULD FOR AN LC JAR (above)

Remove the shroom cap, add a marble, let the spores dry a day or 3. Inject sterile water, agitate/swirl the marble, so the spores go into solution, then aspirate out - with a syringe.

If you want to make a bazillion  syringes.

Find a gallon sun tea jar, the type with the spigot.

Remove the spigot & replace with an injection port (septa plug).

Sanitize inside the jar. Lay it in it's SIDE. Remove jar cap.

Place about 12 caps inside it & let the caps drop spores.

Remove caps, allow prints to dry a day or 3.

Inject sterile water (add a few drops of "jet dry"), agitate the jar & there you go.

Enough spore solution to make 100+ syringes.

I like the glass slide option.  When scraping off the spores do you have recommended amount per syringe.  I am still looking for a consistent measurement each forum is coming up different answers.

thanks
