What happened to bus etiquette?

When I get on the city bus I see a lot of people who take one seat and then set their possessions on the empty seat next to them. They may even take up three seats sometimes through expansive posture and their possessions. This is fine on uncrowded buses, but sometimes these people will stay spread out even when there are no more available seats. I've also noticed that few men offer their seats to standing ladies. It's getting to be a novelty now when I offer my seat to a lady. Even this wouldn't be a big deal. I'm fine with men not offering their seats to young women, but when an old woman or a physically challenged person is standing up while young men continue to sit, it really irks me. Anybody else notice this in their city?

When people leave their stuff on the seat when the place is clearly full I just kind of barge in and let it known in sitting so if thy don't want their stuff to be squashed, they'll have to them.

Mostly they are compliant.

When it's almost full I usually don't sit down because I don't want the hassle of wriggling in, only to have to wriggle out again when an old person boards.

There's a rhyme in the train about train etiquette.

All the bags are sitting comfortably except for Dewand, she must stand.

Etiquette and public transportation are two mutually exclusive things.

I ride the train to class everyday and I can always count on somebody playing their music through their phone speaker obnoxiously loud while yelling really shitty rap lyrics.
