Has it been demonstrated that Bridgesii contains more active alkaloids than pach and peruv. ?? Fanx...

Not that I've ever read... I did however read somewhere they're slower growing (I dunno about from seed though. I saw someone's bridgesii beat the hell out of their pedro.)

The more I read, the more peruvianus sounds to be the hyped up "potent" one. But I betcha they're all more or less the same.

I have no idea on this one, only speculation, but I do have both pedro and torchs, and with 1/2 day indirect and 1/2 direct sun this summer, the torchs definitely looked like they were growing thicker, and maybe even faster. The pedros seem to need a little more sun to grow the same amount.

I personally think peruvian torch are great because they have much more defense against animals (including humans), but there are a lot of things that look like peruvian torch, and even other cacti named peruvian torch, so its a bit tricky.

If I ever got a bridgesii it would be a monstrose spineless one, those look pretty freaky, but cool none the less.

I?d say they are more or less the same in alkaloid content.
Sure some clones or specimen of Peruvianus might be more potent but not all.

My Bridgesii grows like crazy, it beats the shit out of my pedros anyway, but still that can be just my specimen.
Cactii?s growthrate differ alot from specimen to specimen from my experience anyways..

peace..

Its interesting - because the recommended dosage in terms of amounts is about half for bridgesii what it is for pedro. I have a friend (well a guy i know who thinks he knows all) who warned me that bridgesii was nasty in terms of potency and 'vibe' and that its one to keep away from. So naturally i want it

i'd love to have one just out of the beauty of it.
once a great friend and member of the community sent me a cutting but it died on me (it had a fight with the other cactus in the box during the trip).
as for potency, they've been used traditionally thousands of years before mister Jesus Christ think of being born, just like other trichocerei.
if you can get one, why not? it's not gonna make your garden ugly in any way...

I am no expert. But from my understanding T. Pachs & T Perus have an alkaloid that inhibits mescaline from binding to receptors (some scientific shit like that). T. Bridges don’t have this alkaloid present. So the mescaline works uninhibited. T. Pachs typically have a higher raw mescaline content but this is diminished when interfered with by the alkaloid I can’t remember the name of. Also T. Pachs in the US have a tendency to be on the weak side compared to their wild counterparts. As I prefaced this post I honestly don’t know shit about it so take it for what it’s worth.

the problem is, its still subjective.  theoretically other alkaloids "inhibit" mescaline binding,  but its open to interpretation.  On some levels, fitting in a receptor is "inhibiting" because its taking up "the drug"'s spot.  although in other cases, say 'peyote'  the cocktail IS the appeal, and the cocktail leads to a high that can be more than the sum or its parts, if the loph enthusiasts are to be believed.
