xp pro problem

Theres a key thing that has hundreds of
serial numbers for Xp, anyone have a link
for it. I think you need this installed before
you try and update XP.

windows updates, when i tried
it said i had a bad serial number,
in other words pirate copy, how do you
get around this, its xp pro i have.
The main problem is with my pc starting up.
Sometimes it starts, go'es to the blue screen
and freezes, this is the second xp pro cd i've
had and i seem to get the same problem, even
on my old pc.
I figured maybe there's something out there
that can help, eg a download from microsoft.
Anyone any suggestions.
It's sticking or freezing on the welcome page,
then you have to press control, alt, delete
to get it booted up.
