Matt Stone & Trey Parker made an animated Christmas card about four little boys who witness a Mortal Kombat style fight between Jesus and Santa Claus. It circulated around the internet and was eventually discovered by apparently some Cartoon Network employee who showed it to his boss and they called the guys who made it and asked them if they wanted to do a series.

That series was South Park.
