(Notice evolution-in-action here. If someone were to only see the Map post then the Bambi post what possible theory could they use to explain this transition?)

Chaos theory. Tiny imperfections in the numerous replies kept piling up until they had a devastating off topic effect.

I am one of the most potent catalysts that lead to this happening, I fucking swear to God....

*notes that the topic has now changed to how the topic has changed* :nut:

I mean, hell, we all know that these people are fucking crazy, I certainly didn't see a relief map in that picture...
Peace.

FG, I will hate to see your offspring - they could very well have antennae and fangs and such...

Actually, they will have like humongous strong hands, evovled from my bass guitar playing, and they will be genectically prone to insanity. Their body will not require water to function, but rather, psilocybin and THC. And my offspring will be numerous and many, and will cover the Earth like a plauge.
Peace.

Regardless of this find, I'm still waiting for the day when the archeology community drops its ego and considers the possibility that we are not the first advanced civilization (if you can even call it that) developed upon this planet.

Im pretty sure this kind of thing would be in the news. I mean dinosaurs were around 60 million years ago, back when advanced humans 'didnt exist'. Anti-christians wouldnt hate on adam and eve. It would be sweet to ponder how many times humans advanced, killed themselves off and re-evolved from apes, came from other planets, were created by God, whatever you believe....

No need to be a smartass. There have been some very unusual findings suggesting many things, from nuclear detonation in northern Africa to plane flight in India. And as I said, it's a possibility, not a definite. How much evidence could last from a civilization from, say, hundreds of thousands of years ago anyway? Probably not much, but there's got to be something. I think the theory is more often dismissed because of the "nonsense" factor rather than lack of potential for evidence.

doesn't actually, um.. look like a map if you ask me. But maybe it's just a poor picture.

I wonder why such an advanced civilization would make a map on a rock. Makes no sense. Who's razor is it again? The one that says the simplest answer is probably the right one? Before anybody rewrites the entire history of the planet based on a rock that doesn't really look like anything and likely isn't dated accurately.. you know..

William Occum
to answer that question its "Occums Razor"

If there are several possible explanations for some observation, and no significant evidence to judge the validity of those hypotheses, you should always use the simplest explanation possible. Occum`s razor is also known as the principle of parsimony ? scientists should make no more assumptions or assume no more causes than are absolutely necessary to explain their observations.
