Took my laptop apart toay for the first time

Was a lot easier than I expected. It has been overheating like a motherfucker lately and is very dirty so I just wanted to peek inside an give it a spray/ wipe.
Anyways I managed to get it all apart and together perfectly, only part I messed up on was reconnecting the keyboard I forgot that part, then connected it wrong making the keys not sense right. So it took 2 tries for that but everything else went great. It was cleaner then I expected, the fan and under the keys were the only really bad parts. Took the keyboard outside and shook it off for awhile watching tons of crap fall out.
Then I dust offed as much of the keys as I could and the fan and anything else that looked dirty.
Not sure how much of a difference it actually made but it is a start at least I want to get more into computers, would be sweet to custom build one.

Just my experience/opinion.. The first time, yeah it's pretty cool, you feel like a genius. All the following times it doesn't mean anything to you really. Even furniture from Ikea is more difficult and complicated. That's not to discourage you from doing it or anything. There are a lot of upsides and basically no down sides to building your own computers. I encourage everyone to learn.

With my face against the floor I can’t see who knocked me out of the way. I don’t want to get back up but I have to so it might as well be today. Nothing appeals to me no one feels like me, I’m too busy being calm to disappear. I’m in no shape to be alone contrary to the shit that you might hear. You can't wake up, this is not a dream. You're part of a machine, you are not a human being With your face all made up, living on a screen. Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline

Yeah that was part of the point of this post I guess, I was surprised how simple much of it looked. I could imagine it being relatively easy.
I imagine you get much more bang for you buck too than most pre built ones.
The only reason it is really tempting is becouse I need a new computer but would prefer to save as much $ as possible.
What I really want to build myself is some instruments, acoustic and electric guitar, lap steel, drums, mandolin, maybe even a synthesizer

Don't think it's too common to build a laptop yourself though, the motherboard sizes aren't standardized.

Yeah loptop parts seem to fry themselves after a while if you use it all the time. I mean all electronics degrade, but I think if all the components of a laptop last longer than 5 years it is either exceptionally well designed or not being used alot. I never actually ever took them apart until they broke though. I actually have an old laptop I haven't used in years, it just is missing half the memory it originally had because one memory card fried itself from all the heat I am guessing. I should make it into a linux machine. I've been messing around with the "forensic investigation" linux version in a Virtual Box. Normally I'm not into snooping but the fundamental math and coding used is fascinating

yeah building a custom latop is really difficult. generally, all the parts fit together in a certain way and there is no room for error in size of parts. building a desktop is 1000x easier
taking one apart is generally no biggie though. i had an Alienware laptop for like 4 years and took it apart twice during that time. and i was only about 15. i was replacing heatsink paste(Arctic Silver #5 is the shit) and cleaning out dust. its fun and educational. as long as you remember where everything goes, and dont zap anything with static electricity its a good time
i eventually spilled an entire bowl of raman soup on the keyboard and didnt flip it over fast enough. death by raman.

Getting out excess dust can do wonders for a laptop. Seems like a natural insulator tbh. i try to vacuum mine out at least every 6 months, i have a decent fan system and a gaming laptop so mines never all that hot regardless. I had a friend that built computers and i was always in awe. Definitely the cheapest route to go and it'll last you a few years.

Good points, if I had a bigger room I wold go for a desktop becouse they are better but I need something that is portable for now.
Surprisingly the laptop I have for probably at least 3-4~+ years has not had any real issues in that time.
Its made is china too, and like I said this is the first time I have even bothered opening and cleaning it I use it pretty much daily too. Even have brought it on vacation.
I always liked alienwares becouse the look cool and seem like nice computers. I actually have 2 friends who have them, but I have another friend who is a computer nerd and hates them becouse they look cool and could be a lot nicer for the money apparently. I don't actually now enough about computers to say though so they always interested me. They are too spendy though. If I had much more money I might get one.
Death by ramen is pretty funny. One time my dad spilled bear on my stepmoms laptop and then went to bed, and the next day she picks it up and is like wtf is this
Pretty sure it still worked though, 'twas a macbook I think.

your friend is right. Alienware laptops are very, very nice, but they are overpriced and you're paying alot of money for a brand-name. mine was 1200$ (yes, i was spoiled) but in hindsight it wasnt actually worth that much money. like, not even at all.
i basically used it as a desktop and rarely moved it. if i had spent 1200$ on a desktop and built it myself, it would still be able to play modern games
overall, alienware looks cool, does make good, stable hardware, etc. but is not really worth the money when it comes down to it unless you are a seeerious on-the-go gamer

alienware sells the name prices are outrageous for what you could actually get out of a pro build laptop your friend is right. Most sites offer an order the parts and we build it for you feature, it's nice and usually doesn't cost any extra from most sites.
