Pressure Cookers - Stainless Steel or Aluminum?
    #2182901 -

Hey all! I'm looking to get another pressure cooker. Now this is my first time actually buying one, my current one my mom gave to me. What are the advantages disadvantages of aluminum and stainless steel? I can pick a aluminum one up at wal mart rite now for like $20, but the stainless steal ones start at $70. They are both about the same size too! 8qt I think. So I'm leaning towards aluminum, maybe even two of them  :syringe: So what does this mean, that it will rust when it gets old? That doesnt bother me as long as it doesnt blow up in my face or anything. What do you guys use?

Aluminium doesn't rust which is a bonus. However, if you drop it, it's more likely to get dented. Also you shouldn't use it for cooking food as the aluminium can leach into the water and poison you over a long period. :eyemouth:

I like my Aluminium All American 921C, it has the metal to metal seal.
I got it at www.appliances.com

Aluminum it is! No food will be cooked in this bad boy, its purely for sterilization of substrates. And I would never drop a pressure cooker, they make me paranoid as is. Thanks for the insight! Now I can afford to run 4 cookers at a time, eventually. Man, if only I had two stoves
