Hey this is a relatively easy question i guess, i got this mirror prssure cooker which is new, i dont think it get to 15psi but i want to measure my pressure. I work with some air compressors painting and shit but i wonder if i can use a valve to only let 15 or 13 psi out with a valve. Something with a guage is what im needing. Oh and accuracy.
And i dont wanna buy an All American There Like 100.00 bucks, i already spent 60.00 on this one.errrr
Any Ideas?

Does it have the weight to control psi? if it does remove it and remove the housing on the PC lid as well ( the tube where the weight was sitting ). Thread the lid w/ a tap and die set and put in a 3" stainless steel tube into the freshly threaded hole (the stainless tube also needs to be threaded on both sides) Put a 30 psi gauge w/ valve on the other end of the steel tube and there you go. I have not done this yet, but in theory it will work..... I will post pic's when mine is finished, I just have to wait untill I can pickup my tap and die set from my bro. Peace

So your saying drill out that post the weight sat on. Then put a 3 inch on it?, 3 inch pipe circumfrence or tall off the pot 3 inches.
Why would you tap the threads though? theres already threads that the weight thing attached too, I was think of just hooking up the valve and guage to that. Where you gettin the gauge from? Think HomeDepot could help?

You got the idea, on my PC I have to completely remove that post on the lid, it is apart of the lid and way too small to just hook up a valve + gauge so that is why I suggested drilling threw and re-threading. but if you don't have to do it then the better it will work imo. I found a gauge at my buddies welding shop that he said I could use, I think it was from a plasma torch. But that is the basic idea that I had to put on a pressure gauge. 3" pipe length, I am thinking of a .5" diameter and 10g pipe thickness. Threading all the way threw is not a bad idea, that way you could put a locking nut on the other end and seal it up w/ tempered silicone if you feel the fit is not good enough.

Hey thats a good idea too. I think my guage hole thing is really small too thats why im also thinking about the tapping and dye kit. My grandpa has one weve used a few times but im just scared about really fucking shit up then..
Hey do you think the Type of Pressure switch matters. I really dont want to melt anything or any guage b/c the shit gets too hot. Think thats possible...

I don't think the make of the PC matters, I would just avoid cutting threw any plastic parts( I would recommend not getting a PC with plastic on it, other than the handle because plastic is cheap and will break sooner or later) If you get a heavy duty hydraulic pressure switch and gauge that should be fine, that stuff has to operate at high temperature + pressure for extended periods. They should not have a problem in this application. Make sure the 3" pipe is solid stainless steel. You don't want it corroding and introducing rust to your jars!

i would strongly advise against making holes in your pressure cooker.. you could weaken the metal and cause failure!!! BOOOOOMMMM...
bring it up to pressure, and let 1 drop of water fall on the lid.. if it pours off,, you don't have 15 psi..
if the drop evaporates instantly, you got 15 psi and are all set!
mine has a pressure gauge, was fit with same diameter as the vent pipe.. but it was part of the PC when it was build!!.. it's an old No5.

i too would strongly advice against doing this kind of alteration on your pressure cooker. you risk turning it into a bomb.
