unrooted cacti flowers
    #21729014 -

I have a juuls giant cutting that has been in a pot of 50/50 cactus soil perlite mix for a month now.checked for roots a week ago there were none.it is trying to flower and I was just wanting to know if that could be the reason for it not shooting roots yet?

Really big cuttings (in this case also Thick cuttings since it's Juul) oftern root slower, since they can withstand thirst for long periods. Usually when i take a cutting, it starts to root when it becomes a bit dehidrated. One month is a reasonable amount of time to develop roots, but sometimes it requires more time, and this seems the case. Just put your cutting again in the dirt, and wait for another month.

By the way, i don't think that it's the flower that doesen't let your cutting to root, and the fact that it's flowering also means that it's not suffering at all, hence wy it's not pushing out roots.

So all that i wrote is my personal opinion. Your Cutting is full and plump, isn't it?

The soil looks kinda wet, if they don't have roots you don't wanna be watering them.

As long as it doesn't stay wet for too long, but if you're gonna have more rain...then yes you might wanna put em where they'll stay dry.

The vendor wasn't being malicious, i'm sure.

They are in a spot where they only get afternoon sun.under the overhang of my roof.the soil is mostly dry already.it stormed pretty bad guess it was raining sideways because it has rained a couple times before and didnt get wet at all.anyway to speed the rooting process?feels like its taking forever.

Nothing I know of other than let it stay warm/hot, keep it dry, and wait. They can take like a while sometimes.

'Which road do I take?' she asked.
'Where do you want to go?' was his response.
'I don't know', Alice answered.
'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

I don't remember how long exactly, think it was a couple weeks once the bud started really coming out.  Then the flower lasted like four days.

Has it been stalled like that for a month? or you've had the cutting for a month, and this is recent?
