Super strange leucistis mutant (?) grew while colonizing in the dark
    #21576507 -

A few days ago I popped open a minitub to check on some colonization and this huge dude was looking straight back at me. I decided to put it into fruiting conditions and it has only grow slightly over the past few days. The color of the cap was already slightly green (which is normal for leucistis). No other pins have popped up since putting it into fruiting conditions. There is also one other very thin mutant looking pin that doesn't appear to have a cap and is just growing slowly tall and very thin.

Over the past few days it has only grown slightly and has become a bit more green on the cap. What I am worried about is the very strangely shaped cap and veil(?). I originally thought it must be some sort of bacterial contamination but the tub smells like straight shrooms.

I just want to make sure this weirdo is cool to eat and isn't verticillium or the result of a bacterial contam.

You have a really nice tub there.

I would suggest you cut & pitch that single fruit and try to protect the rest of the tub if it is, in fact, a problem child...

I have never heard of green being a normal color for a lucy. Blue/green from bruising maybe but even then its usually just blueish period. That cap looks greyish to me in the pic anyway. That fruit looks really unhealthy,  mycogone or verticillium might be possible.  I would get those fruiting conditions dialed in real good right off the get go.

Is that tub cased? Or just really weak colonization?

Not cased. Put it into fruiting conditions earlier than normal because of this fruit and the small lanky pin on the right corner. Since putting it in fruiting conditions no other pins have appeared so it probably was not the right move.

Yeah I agree with you saying it looks very unhealthy, this fruit is giving me weird vibes. Its not so much the color just the overall shape of the cap. I have had this strain produce colors on the caps similar to this in other tubs.

Considering harvesting it and dissecting it a bit. I wish the cap would open but it looks like it may have aborted, probably should have just left it in the dark and checked on it periodically.

If it pinned that early into the spawn run its probably a contamed mess. I can't say exactly what the culprit is but if that was my tub I would probably just toss that. At any rate I'm interested to know what kind if variety puts out grey green caps. Something ain't right.

yeah man my instinct was that it had to be a contam but the tub smells like it is supposed to. Is there any chance there is a contam that is present but not giving off an odor ?

Yes. Happens lots. Many molds have barely any odor at all and small amounts of bacteria often will not have a really strong smell either. If I had to guess I would say a combo of bacteria and/or a white mold are the problem.  If you wanna hang on to it I understand but don't mist it and if it goes green or any other nasty.color get rid of it asap.

Nice looks like they were lucy. Now ya just need to prevent abortions like the first one from happening

No doubt. I am kind of excited about sampling that abort though. After I picked it that thing bruised blue so hard... Most of my lucys hardly bruise at all. I know that is only the psilocin but I'm hoping it correlates with some extra psilocybin. :crazy2:
