Wonder how often shit like this happens without a camera near by...  Any criminal knows the police are just as crooked as other criminals.  Same cloth, different path.  The mistrust in the police doesn't come out of nowhere, becoming a police officer is what adult criminals with clean records do.

He'll still probably get away with it. Worst that might happen is he'll lose his job, but doubtful. Cops kill unarmed people on camera all the time and get away with it.
I'd be surprised if he actually gets in trouble. But one can hope.

I can't get the video to watch it on my phone, but if the guy would have just listened to the cop and did what he said he would probably still be alive.

I'm not and cannot justify the killing of an unarmed man that is fleeing but these people that fight and  give cops trouble are just fools.  You almost have to treat cops like someone trying to rob you. Just give them what they want and live to fight another day.  I mean if a cop treats you in a unjustified way just go with it and report it the next day.  I'm not saying what the cop did was right, but at least your not dead.

In my experience with cops I just treat them with respect and most of the time I get treated the same way back.  And if I don't I fIle a report and if necessary get a lawyer to handle it. A ticket and a night in jail, however fucked up it may be, is not worth losing your life over.  In all these cop killing videos you see the victim fighting with the cop and doing that is just plain idiocy.

He didn't fight the cop. He just ran away. Very slowly. The cop could have caught him. But instead shot him about 7 times. He didn't pose any threat to the cop whatsoever.

I just read that he was convicted of murder.

edit: my bad, charged with - so not convicted.

But the way this is developing - if only for the sake of avoiding civil unrest I'm sure he'll be convicted.

Well that's good. I hope so too.. and I hope he gets convicted and gets sentenced just as bad if not worse than any normal person would.
After all, they are the ones legally carrying a gun and a badge and supposed to be the ones upholding the laws and "protecting and serving" the public.
But perhaps I'm too cynical, but I feel like he probably wont. Too many cops have gotten off on cold blooded murder.
But hopefully he does and this sets a precedent, maybe cops will start being a little less trigger happy.
Executing people on the street for stealing, or having a tail light out and running away on foot.
An average of 3 people per day are killed by cops in the US. Many of them mentally ill or in situations where lethal force was absolutely not necessary at all. A taser could be used or similar but too often the cop just pulls out their gun and empties their magazine into center mass on the slightest inclination.

This is one of those situations. There have been many more like it, very rarely are the cops convicted of any crime or severely punished. So I would be surprised if he is. But hopefully..
