Galaxy s5 vs galaxy s5 active

just got back from best buy and saw i can get these phones for $100 down. Was wondering if anybody has experience with these phones and how they like it. Currently have an S3. If i get it, id like to install cyanogenmod. Anyone with any experience? how do you like it?

I have an S5 and it's a damn good phone. Call quality is excellent, it has a lot of useful features, and you can disable a lot of the "bloatware" without rooting the phone. The display is beautiful and games look amazing on it. I had a Galaxy S1 for 4 years until I finally upgraded. I believe the S5 active is very similar but it's bulkier and more durable for people who work outside or go back-packing and such. I think it has a barometer on it but how many people are really going to use that?

Cyanogenmod is my favorite 3rd party firmware. Unfortunately, it's not available for the S5 yet. You can root an S5 but I haven't done it yet because it does what I want it to as it is. I'm going to wait a few more months until I start going full tech geek on it.

Not being able to install costume software greatly effects my decision to wanna buy the phone. Really wanna make the phone my own with roms that I like. Hopefully someone fixes it soon

You can root the phone and install basic custom software but Cyanogenmod is still in the works. There might be other custom firmware options available, but I haven't really looked into it.

Well,  I might just buy it and continue using my s3 awhile. I'm undecided. There are other options too. Galaxy note or something
