Pope Francis on climate change...pisses off the conservatives * 2
    #21157361 -

I really love this dude...he is a champion for the poor and now for the planet.

Exerpt: "I don't know if it (human activity) is the only cause, but mostly, in great part, it is man who has slapped nature in the face," Francis said. "We have in a sense taken over nature."

It seems like in general the papacy is trending toward intelligence and liberalism and the right just can't handle it.

I'm sorry science is true. Fuckin idiots

If the Catholic church gives such a fuck about the poor maybe they should liquidate some of the hundreds of billions (if not trillions) of dollars in assets they have and give it to them.

Call me when the Dope shows any sign that he knows about science.  His reasoning is entirely faith based.  Others' are not.

What science?  Computer models are not science and the Dope is not a scientist.

I just mean the days of "There is no such thing as genetics" or whatever ridiculous things they used to say are coming to a close.

Christianity inherently breeds ignorance and stupidity, the least the church can do is not make it worse

The least the church can do is shut the fuck about things it is ignorant of and stop being hypocrites.

I agree. The pope's opinion is just as worthless as an actor's opinion on climate change.

This. I don't understand why this Pope is considered "radical". He has not deviated from pre-existing church doctrine in any substantial way. People just act like he's fucking Che Guevara or something because the last guy was literally the Emperor from Star Wars. Practically anybody would seem young and hip following that act.

Actors are entertainers. The pope is the voice of God. Not really a good comparison. A president? Maybe vaguely comparable. Just because we are atheists doesn't mean people don't have cause (in their minds) to respect his opinion

You are so amazingly starched Zappa! How do you get outa bed in the morning? lol.. 99% of all scientists including NASA and every other government branch that has spent endless hours combing over every single bit of comprehensive data that has been collected agree that the planet is in trouble because of human interference. But , oh, fagetaboutit you and all the other geniuses out there and your "bought and paid for" quasi-scientists disagree. It is fucking laughable.

This is a report that will be comprehensive and non-politically done by some of the best and highest regarded in the field. It will be out in June or July whether Rush Limbaugh likes it or not.

The pope's opinion matters, he in essence is the ambassador of roman catholicism and his words are taken very serious by hundreds of millions of people.

If only he would do that one thing, promote that people who have sex out of wedlock use condoms to stop the spread of AIDS.

He'd save millions of lives that way.

UH HUH.

Did you guys in this thread know that the Catholic Church has been in full acceptance of the theory of evolution for decades?

He said that homosexuals are welcome in the church, that atheists will still go the heaven, and divorce is OK.

Homosexuals have always been welcome on the condition that they don't have any homosex, which really makes them not homosexuals at all but celibates. The fact that he said that atheists go to heaven will affect literally nobody, since heaven doesn't exist. This should be obvious from how many times the rules have arbitrarily been changed. And AFAIK Catholics have been getting divorced for centuries.
