A Perfect Circel--Thirteenth Step
    #2109608 -

I finally bought this album and I'm totally blown away! It was awesome listening to it sober, but now I'm listening to it stoned and I'm in heaven.

I was gonna make a separate post about this song but I figure I might as well post it here. I was thinking about the lyrics to this song today, and how at first glance it sounds like a beautiful love ballad, but upon closer inspection, I think it might have something to do with drugs of some kind. What do you guys think?

The Nurse Who Loved Me

Say hello to the rug's topography
It holds quite a lot of interest with your face down on it
Say hello to the shrinking in your head
You can't see it but you know its there so don't neglect it

I'm taking her home with me all dressed in white
She's got everything I need pharmacy keys
She's falling hard for me I can see it in her eyes
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys

Say hello to all the apples on the ground
They were once in your eyes but you sneezed them out while sleeping
Say hello to everything you've left behind
It's even more a part of your life now that you can't touch it

I'm taking her home with me all dressed in white
She's got everything I need some pills and a little cup
She's falling hard for me I can see it in her eyes
She acts just like a nurse with all the other guys

I thought the same things, in the reverse order though.

I think it has to do with both. I think it's about a nurse being in love with a guy when he's just in it for the drugs.

The first two or three times I listened to this album, I was stoned pretty good. What really blows me away is how seamlessly the songs flow together and feed off each other to create, not just 12 or 13 songs on a cd, but an ALBUM, a continuous and whole entity. In the words of Adam Sandler's The Buffoon, "It blew my fucking mind!"

I'm looking forward to it. Also, Bloodflower6 did you get your name from that Cure album?

As for the song, I always pictured a guy in a hospital or in rehab. He loves this nurse, but all she really is doing is her job.

Does Maynard even write the vocals?

Maynard did not write the lyrics for "The Nurse Who Loved Me". Its a cover of a song originally done by a band called Failure.
