And look at all the good that approach did. Cynicism is born from the brokenness. And if an approach doesn't accomplish anything of note, that approach soon becomes enveloped in the cynicism as also broken.

Not to mention that we all need to complain no matter what we are doing or how we see ourselves. Many cynics I know have more or less concluded that it matters little what they are doing. It isn't humanities fault that things are broken. That is out of our hands. We were destined to be this way as this is how it has happened despite best efforts.

Not sure how a cynic would trust other people to action. Especially if they're also doused with a healthy dose of pessimism. Where's the motivation?

Seems more like an evolution of terms than a degradation of standards. Though I wouldn't dismiss the two to be entwined.
