Anybody here live in Vancouver,

Ive been debating on where i want to vacation. And its between either Denver, CO or Vancouver, BC in Canada. Im leaning towards the latter.

How is the place and do you like it there? What are some cool/fun and not so expensive things to do there?


I know i could probably google it, but i want some fellow shroomerites first hand experience of what it is like there.


Also, could i couch surf so i don't have to pay for a hotel?    :datass:

I live in the Vancouver, not downtown but in an urban area. Its a beautiful city and there are lots to do in winter. Temps are really mild right now, and the skihills are open.

You know why its called BC right? stands for Bring Cash.

Being from the deep south and visiting both of those places, I'd say either would be a good choice its just what are you into sort of the thing.  CO has one of the he neatest music scenes right now.  Whatever you do don't move for drugs. 

You can find drugs anywhere... This is 2014.

i'd stay in a hostel on Granville street, full of partiers and drugs everywhere.  good times.

He's just looking to vacation.  I've never been to CO but vancouver is not cheap, I've lived here for 38 years.

I fucking loved vacationing to BC.  Between the two I'd probably go back to the great white north.  Honestly the people there were much nicer and welcoming. 

Plus I mean walking down Hastings street is a complete culture shock compared to growing up stateside.

Yeah hastings st is a weird one. Its funny when you are walking down with someone not familiar with the area. One block it's high end shops, then you get to the weed district, then transition into shantytown! all in 4 blocks

I live in winnipeg but have travel'd to vandam a few times


The first time i went i got a email address to a weed delivery service.  This 20 year kid brought a 1/2 oz (of amazing OG kush) to our hotel room.  I invited him to stay, i ended up grabbing a 10 strip of acid off him the next day


vandam is amazing.... we walked around downtown late at night and i didnt feel unsafe.  Its a beautiful and amazing city...


The real time to go there is around 420.... that 420 celebration is SOOOOO CRAZY...  there is booths to buy weed/hash/mush All over the streets... cops just stand there.  I got a dozen amazing storys about my adventures on 420 there

I want to tell one of my Vancouver stories:



So the hotel me and the wife were staying in had a smoking balcony on the 12th floor.  We rolled a fat og kush jonny and headed up there to smoke it.  We passed by a conference room on the way outside, it was full of people.  I didnt really care i was in Vancouver aka Vandam for 420!

So we light the joint and start smoking it.... it REEEEEKs.  anyone who knows og kush knows that shit stiiiiinnnnks.... so the balcony door opens and some big dude walks towards us (with 3 other guys following him).

"You two... put that reefer out NOW!!!  There is a Rcmp conference just inside those doors, we have the top officers from all over canada in there.  Now the whole room REEEEKS of skunk!!!  If i catch you two again ill make sure you get arrested!"

Talk about getting busted :facepalm:


Later that night me and the wife drank a bottle and got DRUNK.  She ended up passing out.... So i put on my trunks and went to the hotub....  When i got there it was full of dudes and some bitch.  They all seemed drunk too.


They asked what i was doing in vancouver... told them i came for 420, so i could smoke my face off.  They did not understand what "420" was in vancouver so all drunk i told em about all the weed and hash for sale out in the open, and how it was pretty much legal there on 420.  Then i told them how i got busted smoking a joint on the smoking balcony (i didnt know they were all police)...


Wouldn't you know it.....The hot tub was FULLLL of Cops (i should have realized).  They then harassed me and called me "pot head loser" and splashed me till i left...

haha i still had a blast there.  but i felt like jonny deep in the hotel police conference

Its not just 420, but I fell comfortable smoking a joint walking down the street downtown. Nobody hassles you and even cops don't care. Funny things is I've yet to smoke in any of the weed cafe's on hastings.

Not huge on Denver personally - cool things to do and some neat people as anywhere - but the city doesn't feel even in the same ballpark as le vancouver.

I live in North Vancouver.  Vancouver has a lot to do but personally,  I think going outside the city on a roadtrip or camping trip is nicer.  BC has some really beautiful wilderness.

I used that thing too when I visited, I still can't believe that works.
I stayed in the Cambie St Hostel last time I was there. There is a bank machine outside it and a guy who just stands there selling weed. Very polite for street dealer. I also bought acid at wreck beach from some naked hippie. I plan to move to van one day.

I still have never been to BC. Visiting Vancouver doesn't interest me that much though, I'm more interested in seeing the wilderness and shit and maybe doing some treeplanting. Maybe someday I'll do a family road trip there.
