What have been the most valuable you've ever learned?

"Twas ever thus"    I don't know if it's the most valuable but it's up there at the top.  Most things in life that bug us cannot usually be seriously corrected. You'll have to live with it and you are not alone. It's been this way since the beginning of culture.

"Hang on tightly, let go lightly."

Great skill is needed for this one.

How so Ice? The terminology, for me, doesn't instantly conjure up any situations where this lesson might apply..

How about your romantic relationships and your own life?  I can think easily of  more.

I know what your saying ice, a more artistic and imo beautiful way of saying "you don't know what you've got till it's gone". Even then that's not really as well worded then what you said but it is definitely a bit of healthy food for thought.

To me it said while the passion is there, take every opportunity to live it up, but if the relationship has ran its course, to let it go gently.  As a gay man this is important, there are like two bars that I like to go that the kind of men I'm into go to in this city.  With any romance I have, I will run into that lover virtually every week as long as live here, so it's that much more wise to leave things amicably.

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

As far as saying go, have always liked "speak softly, carry a big stick"

That's not what that quote means to me.

Hang on to what you want (tightly)  but when you no longer want it or can no longer have it just let it go quickly and easily (lightly)

yeah I agree my comparison doesn't do what you said justice but may help others understand who were unclear with the statement, though we all will have our own personal meaning for different pieces of advice.
