Decapitated a mouse... earned my cat's respect * 2
    #20885886 -

So there's this mouse that has been living in my apartment for about 3 months now. I'd wake up almost every morning to find droppings around the stove and in my frying pans. Annoying, unclean, and disgusting.

I have a cat. I figured he would eventually get the rodent, but the mouse was smart enough to stay out of his way. I got impatient, and bought some glue traps. I cooked a nice fatty meal, left the drippings in the pan, lined it with glue traps, went to bed.

Didn't take long; about 4am that night, I was rudely awoken by the sound of a panicked scurrying in the kitchen.  I stumbled therein, bleary-eyed, to find the mouse, stuck in a glue trap; and, my cat, with two glue traps stuck to his leg.

I pulled the glue traps off my cat, thankful that I got the non-toxic kind. He'd spend the night licking that sticky stuff off of his leg.

Now, what to do with the mouse? I didn't want him to suffer. I was going to put it in the freezer, but judged that to be a painful death. I could microwave him for a few seconds, but they carry diseases and I didn't want him in my oven. I was going to toss him in the dumpster, but didn't feel like going outside at 4am. I was going to knock him upside the head, but that would make a loud bang, and wake the neighbors.

So, I took my thick butcher knife, and cut his head off, with a quick, sharp chop. Might sound awful to the squeamish, but quick and painless--even kosher!

Why waste a good fresh mouse? I figured that I might as well feed it to my cat, but I didn't want him eating any glue. The mouse was largely caught by his legs and feet, so I cut them away from the body, and tossed the glue trap with four little legs in the trash. The head and body of the mouse I dropped to the floor for my beloved feline, and I went back to sleep.

In the morning, the mouse was untouched. It was either out of out of respect--or maybe he thought that I was a real psychopath. Either way, I don't know what it means to a cat if you decapitate a mouse, cut the legs off, and drop the body and head to the ground in front of them, but my cat was good as gold for two straight days.

Thank God for the Shroomery, which gives me a place to talk about these things.

 :chicken:

:hmm:

Just going to say, the way you handled your mouse problem was a little over the top.  You could have just tossed it in the garbage and not been such a lazy ass :crankey: lol

I caught a mouse in my coast house a few weeks ago. Just quickly grabbed the little fucker by the tail and threw him outside. He can't get back in. The door was accidentally open for part of the summer and they moved in.

It was 4am and freezing cold out. Furthermore, he would have been left to die a slow and painful death from exposure and shock.

I thought that my handling of the situation was quite humane.  :noway:

I have a bottle of chloroform to dispatch mice that aren't dispatched by the trap.

You tried to feed your cat a wild mouse?
Way to endanger your cat's health, bro.

Should have just released the mouse outside.
You got blood guilt on you now. Karma is COMING!

Throwing a mouse in the trash would be a very slow and terrible death of starvation trapped.

The trash is like heaven for a mouse. Trash bins are designed to keep rats and mice out for a reason. He would have died in mouse paradise if you would have just braved the cold for a few seconds.

He's an indoor-outdoor cat, and catches mice himself.

Ok, so you're a serial killer in the making. None of those would have been options I'd consider. You're a psychopath and couldn't help but inflict pain on something harmless. Put it in the microwave? Okay buddy. Get help before you start killing people too.

Jackass. Try messing with something that can hurt you back next time.

:wtf:
If you catch a mouse, of course you think a bit how to dispatch the creature without causing too much pain. That doesn't make someone a sociopath - quite the opposite. And cutting its head off is indeed very humane, although in 9 out of 10 cases, the mouse traps that memes mentioned are a way more practical option. They work pretty well and death is generally instantaneous.
