Some delayed pics...
    #2086131 - 11/09/03 07:26 AM (20 years, 5 months ago)

Hi all,

Here are some pics I didn't have the time to scan and upload earlier. Hope you enjoy!

Agaricus, I think it's agaricus subperonatus because of the red bruising of the flesh.

I found some clitocybes (I think...), closest match I can find is clitocybe flaccida.

More clitocybes, my guess is clitocybe infundibuliformis. I've been finding these mushrooms quite a lot the past four weeks. Even now the temperatures have dropped considerably, they keep popping up in some places.

Possibly clitocybe vibecina.

I found a dead oak tree totally covered with fruitbodies of this species, I think it's hapalopilus rutilans. An extraoardinary sight, a tree completely covered with these colourful warts!

While driving home, I spotted a patch of these gigantic mushrooms. Naturally, I stopped to take some quick pics. These are macrolepiota procera. They grow to enormous sizes and appear to be adible when young. Never tried them though.

This could be mycena cinerella, I'm not sure really. At the end of the day, it's still an LBM, right?

Two beautiful young puffballs (lycoperdon perlatum). They are edible when as young as the ones in this picture. I found large clusters of these not far from where I found this cute couple.

Now for the unidentifieds:

Some species of the clitocybe species, I suspect.

I found this to be an intriguing species. The cap is covered with thread-like structures, they lead from the center of the cap to the edges. The feel of the cap is velvet-like and the thready structures appear to be lying on top of the caps.

I have no idea what these are, the picture isn't very clear either.

Well, I sure hope you enjoyed the pics. As always, comments are welcome!

Thanks boO! They were snapped with my ancient Canon EOS1000F. Soon, I might get my hands on a new 70-300mm tele/macro-lens, which might enhance my pictures a bit. The pics above and those in earlier posts were made using the standard Canon 38-80mm objective.

I use 400ASA film (36 exp.), but I intend to experiment a bit with 100ASA, to see if it makes a difference. The choice for 400ASA was to achieve shorter exposure times --> less movement-blurr. Now I'm wondering if the coarser granularity of the faster 400ASA films is causing loss of detail, that's why I'm going to experiment with 100ASA.

Very nice pictures. M. procera is an excellent edible. Your first unknown is a false chanterelle Hygrophoripsis aurantiaca. The second is some species of Psathyrella (guess).

Ah right, I suspected the first unknown might have been a false chantarelle, but as I hadn't found this species before, I didn't really have much experience with it.

The second could very well be a psathyrella indeed; as a matter of fact, it shares some characteristics with psathyrella velutina.
