Im setting up an FTP and want help.
    #2082500 - 11/07/03 11:59 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

So in two weeks Im getting a new computer and I need help setting up an FTP server.

I also want to network my old computer to my new one as well as my two external CD drives for added storage space.

Some general questions to get started:

Whats the best FTP softwhere?
What security tips should I concider?

Ill have more questions as this goes along but lets get the ball rolling slowly.

BTW.. Im doing this because I want to share music. I have TONS and TONS of rare and hard to find dance music CDs plus thousands of recorded DJ sets and individual tracks recorded straight from vinyl.. Ive always wanted to get this all out to share with everyone and nows my chance.

Thank You.

serv-u (http://www.serv-u.com) is probably the easiest ftp server to setup and get started with... as far as security, just make sure you keep any other ports not being used to be blocked off by a firewall or your router.

I use http://www.bpftp.com/ (bullet prof FTP). I like it a lot. Best IMHO.

Security wise. don't give c: access.

Be all and you'll be to end all
