My friend had a stroke and is paralyzed. UPDATE 7/20/15

UPDATE - Sadly my friend Heather has passed away. She had a surgery to put back in the piece of her skull that they had to take out, and about a week later she went to the ER for vomiting and extreme nausea. They kept her overnight and in the morning she had a seizure and her heart stopped. They don't know what happened yet. Thanks to everyone who donated. Sorry for the let down.

UPDATE -  She got sent back home and I just visited her and got some more info. She was at a music festival in Texas and was on molly when she had the stroke. She took about 500mg throughout the day that she got from a friend she knew. She didn't test it, so we don't know if it was real MDMA but with that high of a dose it could cause problems even if it was real MDMA. She said she was having a good time and then all of a sudden she fell onto some stairs and broke her leg and hit her head and had a mini-stroke. Does anyone know if it is common for mdma to cause strokes at higher doses or if she was just prone to having strokes from high blood pressure or something?

My friend Heather who is only 24 had a stroke while she was on a road trip out of state. She's one of the coolest girls I know, and has always just been like one of the guys. She was pretty overweight but recently lost a lot of it, and was getting healthier. She liked to smoke weed and take molly, but I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I haven't heard if she was on anything, but I'm sure we've all done far worse and don't have strokes.

She had to have emergency surgery to cut open her skull and relieve some of the pressure from her brain. They say her left side is paralyzed and she can only say one syllable words. So she's pretty much a vegetable and it's really sad because she is just a good person that this should never happen to.

Her family needs $8,000 to transport her from Texas back home to Missouri. Here is her (link deleted, no longer asking for donations)  if you want to donate. Normally I would never post a link asking for money, but I really don't care in this case if it has a chance to help.

Don't by any means write her off as a vegetable, especially at that age. It's an absolute tragedy and there's no way around it, but how someone is directly after their stroke isn't necessarily an indication of how they're going to stay. There's at least a year's worth of potentially consistent recovery time and she's decades younger than plenty of people who have this happen.

Either way, that's fucking terrible and I'm sorry.

I matched your 10.  I can't imagine this happening to one of my friends, but I know it could happen to any of us.  Makes money seem kind of silly.

My condolences op, hope she pulls through and is able to make some recovery.

It's scary to think how quickly and unsuspected things can go bad.

Someone more than twice her age who I was absolutely sure was going to die for many, many weeks after the stroke is now walking around, talking and beginning to swim. I don't know the situation and I don't want to give false hope, but at least according to my experience and the word of the doctors I've spoken to, there's at least a year of relatively hasty recovery. No guarantees obviously, but even if she can't do a damn thing right now she might redeem her life.

Sorry to hear about this unfortunate tragedy searching, I can't imagine what it would be like to have this happen to someone I care about

Although, I am kinda curious why if would take $8000 to transport someone to another state :confused:

Because she's hooked up to a machine. She can't just go on a passenger airline. I'm guessing they would have to just drive her in an ambulance or helicopter or something.
