You see 12 Years a Slave yet? I watched it last night. I'll tell ya man, that movie earned every award it won.

oh yeah, Steve McQueen man.:whistling: i watched it when it first came out. loved every second of it... cept... Brad Pitt; i was cringing when he came into the picture... was it really necessary? oh well, he wasn't TOO too bad. but "hey, i'm your friendly neighborhood white man" kinda was a laugh.

everything else was keen though. that black dude could violin!

have you seen Shameless? or Hunger. those are good ones too. Hunger is hilarious, because shit smears on walls, and Shameless well... that one is one horrid dong of a movie. not one to bring a significant other to see. it's a bit much, ouch.

Will look into them. Agreed that Pitt was a bit much, but he's in a position to shoehorn himself into just about any movie these days. I had no idea McQueen could direct like that, he killed.

McQueen is excellent. until Slave, he was immensely underrated, and of course, very much under the radar.

PS: Hunger was based on a true story about the hunger strike of the members of the INLA (and i speak in abbrev. because i'm cool) in prison. and shit smears.

and Shameless is... i can't tell you. it's just fuckin' Shameless and dirty.

In the Paul Newman lawyer movie, The Verdict, (POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT) there is this killer scene near the end on the witness stand. Newman has already drank his career away and is going against rich lawyers and rich doctors. His star doctor witness gets bought off. He finally asks the question "If we have the transcripts of every nurse who was in the delivery room, then who wasn't in the delivery room. This leads him from Boston to NY to find the former admitting room nurse, Caitlin Costello (played by Lindsey Crouse, who is unrecognizable from her other roles). Costello on the witness stand destroys all the rich famous guys. James Mason is excellent as the bad guy lawyer, especially his voice. Charlotte Rampling is good playing both sides of the fence, as are the Judge and Newman's associate. The jury asks an incredible question before deciding on damages. The book was written by the lawyer who won the biggest medical malpractice suit in Massachusetts history.

well, i just woke up for a bit, from my slumber, because well... i watched too much Forensic Files after some Popeyes chicken (coincidence?), and i had a dream where some serial killer had obviously killed his brother and sister and voodoo feeds on their souls, from a plane of eternal damnation that he sent them to, to feed forever along side of the devil obviously. my brain has a good sense of humor, and upon the climax of receiving this information, i was waking up and my body was vibrating to this massively loud vibrating frequency... which was my fan. brain, you a funny guy.

so i remembered this excellent scene from Wishmaster

must post

hahaha, again... thanks dad. :lmafo:

They're making a Thomas Pynchon movie? :zomgwtf: I don't even know how that's gonna go down...least they picked one of the easier ones instead of trying to adapt Gravity's Rainbow or Mason & Dixon though...

"I have no way of knowing whether you, who eventually will read this record, like stories or not. If you do not, no doubt you have turned these pages without attention. I confess that I love them. Indeed, it often seems to me that of all the good things in the world, the only ones humanity can claim for itself are stories and music; the rest, mercy, beauty, sleep, clean water and hot food (as the Ascian would have said) are all the work of the Increate. Thus, stories are small things indeed in the scheme of the universe, but it is hard not to love best what is our own—hard for me, at least."

yeah, that's wild. it should be awesome. :awesomenod: Paul Wes Anderson makes these big concept films, these sweeping caterwauling films... he's a perfect director for a Pynchon story.

PS: they took fuckin' Winter's Bone off of Netflix so i had to download the mother, so i'll be watching it and doing my mini-review tomorrow. damn Netdicks. i guess cause it's an independent film they couldn't keep it on for too long. damn!

Drive is supposed to be awesome too; that's another one i gotta see.

never heard of Careful though, interesting... a Canadian film, 90% Fresh and a movie about... a mountain avalanche, if i gather correctly?

very interesting. :strokebeard:

Yes, you must watch at least one of his movies. He has so many great ones... History of the World, Blazing Saddles, The Producers, High Anxiety.

Careful is about a group of people, mostly one family, who live on a mountain that is in constant danger of an avalanche. As a result they are super repressed in pretty much every way because they have to be careful of triggering an avalanche. It's pretty ridiculous. Maddin makes all his movies in older type styles. This one is mimicking the look of really early color films. Definitely check it out.

Mel Brooks is hilarious. His movies are great. Plus he pretty much jump started David Lynch's career by hiring him to direct The Elephant Man.
