Around the Fire (movie)

Has anyone seen this 1999 film? Tara Reid and Devon Sawa are in it. I caught it today on TV so I'm sure a lot was edited.

Basically the plot is kid has troubled childhood, goes on tour with "some" band, smokes pot and eats LSD. Of course, this leads to his "downfall" after being busted with a vial of LSD. The main focus of the movie is this guy finding his inner peace. The anti-drug message was littered subtely throughout but not overwhelming.

I found the movie amusing to watch, though not factual or informative at all. It features everything from narcs on the scene to visiting "the chemist". If you can see this without paying for it and have a few hours to waste then watch it. The acting is for the most part poor but the soundtrack is somewhat redeeming. If nothing else, watch it for a humorous look at the director's portrayl of the scene, LSD, hippies, and marijuana. Don't say I didn't warn you--the cliches especially regarding the lots will make you want to barf.

Our old friend Murple reviewed it on IMDB and said it best with this line:
"If you don't already use drugs, listening to the dialog in this movie will drive you to drugs in an effort to kill the pain."

I enjoyed that movie. It isn't a high quality film but for some reason I enjoyed it. It seems to be based off (very loosely) of an awesome book I read, Tiger In a Trance by Max Ludington.

i just saw it last weekend actually... yea overall it really wasnt that good.. the only reason i kept watching it was cause of the subject matter (lsd, pseudo-dead scene) ..... i couldnt figure out if it was pro-drugs or anti ... overall it took almost no stances on anything and talk about anti-climatic, bleh boring ending.

the best part was when he was at the chemists house. although they did a pretty bad job of showing people geeked on crystal lsd.... those 2 bitches looked like they were on heroin or sumthin

I love that movie! You guys are right...it really isn't that good, but it really hit me for some reason. The main character reminds me of a few people that I came across in my adolecence.

I think it would be a really great movie for young teens to watch. I bought it on DVD.
