Did you know that you can simply make a paste out of those, putting it directly onto the stings, instead?

My whole foot and hand itches. Woke me up. Paste would be a mess. Plus I have a little poison ivy blister too. Ugh.

I had a tub filled with acid with some mineral specimins in it to clean them I left out last night and this morning I found 2 dead yellow jackets floating in it!

Did you use ice?  It is said that Inflammation causes pain, and reducing the inflammation may reduce your pain.  Placing a cloth between your skin and the ice, so as to not further damage your tissue, leaving all in place for 15 minutes, removing it for 15, and then repeating as necessary for up to 48 hours may help you.  It seems to help a bit with the itching as well, but you can always make a variety of pastes to varying levels of consistency for topical application, loosely (so that it can breathe) securing it in place with a dressing and bandage as you try to sleep, and/or take an antihistamine, provided you are not taking anything else that may cause a relative drug contraindication, and you fail to have some medical condition prohibiting it, which could cause an absolute contraindication.

Same course as last time. 24 hours later the swelling is starting to go down now.

My ankle took the brunt of the attack but didn't swell as much as my hand. Something about the hand likes to swell. I've already forgot about the abdomen stings..no problem there at all. Just the hands.

I got a good look at the one that stung my leg. It was very yellow.


In fact, I've noticed the yellow jackets are more yellow than in the past. Apparently, the V. Squamosa  (southern yellow jacket) has expanded into this area. Probably what I was stung by.

That seems really odd.  Why would they do that?  Also, I would truly love to see what you collected in the way of mineral specimens.  During my childhood, one of my next door neighbors was an avid collector (geologist), with beautiful displays of great variety he always managed to locate while hiking.  To this day, I still have two in which he kindly gave to me (and wish that I had some of the others, lol).



I think its the smell, the acid smells somewhat sweet I think,  its also near some flowers.  I got mostly agates and some stilbite I think,  Some petrified wood too.  I have a test run going now of a bunch of random, mostly unidentified rocks to see how they react.  Ill most likely be taking pictures when I'm done but it might not be for a couple more daysm
