man i don't know, horseflies will pull a fuckin plug out of you. aside from bees i hate all of the bugs mentioned in this thread. wasps are dickheads.

Yeah but wasps inject you with venom. I'd say wasp stings are a lot more painful.

To be fair my brother is allergic to wasp stings and he swells up like the elephant man from a single sting.  He may be biased.

Horseflies hurt like a bitch for sure.

I have been stung by wasps lots of times but i think fire ant stings are worse. They always get infected and take weeks to recover from, if you ever do. I'm not talking about some of those giant hornets but regular wasp stings are only uncomfortable for a few days and fade away. I usually don't notice when i get stung but i see the mark and then i know.

that's crazy. crete was an island of wasps when i lived there and they had bald faced hornets. but they didn't seem aggressive. i never saw a nest though. and that's probably for the best.

I mostly appreciate wasps because many of them are predators that kill other bugs in my garden. I've totally seen them chomping on budworms and aphids and stuff. Ruthless killers!

Now stumbling into a hornet's nest? No thank you.
