for the planet to support life it has to have a wobble else there are no tides, seasons, etc but mostly tides

The wobble on a star would be very minimal planets are way smaller than stars and in a multiple planet system the gravitational effects of each planet are likely to smooth out the minimal wobble anyways.

Oh ok then, there goes my idea to map the whole universe by measuring its effect on a single atom   I think the theory is sound though, maybe I'm just not stoned enough to figure it put yet :strokebeard:

Miniscule? Microscopic?

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it. ~ Adrian Rogers

well a decent sized moon like ours would help
our moon was likely part of earth once

mars may have had a wobble at one point, but something happened

the only thing that would be more terrifying would be if this was our moon

I think you misunderstand what I mean by wobble. What I mean is that the earth doesn't follow a perfect curve around the sun, the earth moon center of gravity does and sometimes the earth is on one side of that curve and sometimes it's on the other, lemme find a video.

It does wobble a bit, I mean a relatively small asteroid can alter the course of the earth a tiny bit.  The sun is subject to the gravitational forces of orbiting bodies and even tiny changes from impacts and maybe even being propelled by uneven releases of energy within itself.

I am splitting hairs though, like koods told me it would certainly be minuscule compared to the way the sun effects planets or planets effect eachother.

The tidal forces on earth would be immense. The oceans would probably rise and fall by thousands of feet every couple hours. The atmosphere, if it could even survive such forces, and not be sucked right of the planet, would bulge so much due to tidal forces, the pressure would be all over the place. Actually none of this would probably happen because the tidal forces would have been so intense, earth's rotation would have stopped completely in relation to Jupiter and one side of the earth would always face Jupiter the same way one side of the moon always faces earth.

I didn't read the whole thread, But unless everything happened perfectly wouldn't we just get sucked into because of it's gravitational pull?

There are no such thing as real problems. Any problem you think you have, or think is important, is just as stupid as the jupiter one.

We do map some stars due to there wobble, it's called the Doppler shift method/Doppler effect

There would be no life on Earth if Jupiter was as far aways as the moon.

Anything and everything in the cosmos has a 'wobble'. Nothing is stationary.
