Out of all the major political affiliations in this country(basically Republican, Libertarian, Democrat), I have the most hope in Libertarian ideology.
I think that it is incredibly naive to think that we do not need some government regulation.

I also had to read The Jungle by Upton Sinclaire, which is essentially called socialist propaganda, even though it led to implementing basic standards in the meatpacking industry that probably saved a lot of lives, and the reform of absolutely fucking horrible work conditions that did the same.

Ontario. so what now? are you gonna conflate my being from Ontario as being some sort of sign that i must be a certain way, because of some socio-political spectrum of events or attitudes that you're led to believe makes up all of the people's attitudes from Ontario, because it's what you heard or read about?

On another note, how likely to you guys think it will be that America will vote in a third party?

A party needs 5% of the popular vote to recieve federal funding and last election Gary Johnson got 1%. I think attitudes have shifted about Obama dramatically since then, and I think that in the next couple of elections a third party is likely to be eligible for federal funding...but I'm not terribly optimistic past that point.

On another note. FUCK lobbyist. That shit is open corruption happening right infront of our eyes, and I don't understand why it's allowed to go on.

But the consumer will always go for the lowest prices. Otherwise we wouldn't be supporting the slave labor that happens overseas and a huge driving force in it.
To provide this employers will shortchange their workers, make them work longer hours, and ultimately it leads to abuse.
...Which oddly enough, is exactly what is happening to workers right now overseas in countries like China. That is a very odd parallel between capitalism and communism, I don't know what to make of it, I just notice it.

I do agree that working conditions would not be nearly as atrocious as it was during the Industrial Revolution - but what exactly is preventing exploitation of workers, since the consumer cannot be trusted to.

I have heard that The Netherlands has(or had) the freest market in the world, but it also has a significant amount of government regulation. Can anyone verify this or tell me why? I'm really lazy, so I honestly don't know beyond being told that by someone..but I think that we should be looking to other countries like Holland, Sweden, etc, and learning from it.

Eh, I'll take classical libertarianism, i.e. libertarian socialism.  Worker self-management, decentralized organization, horizontal decision-making.  In other words, freedom for the masses, not for the ruling class.

We've been through this before. If you have unregulated business, monopoly is ALWAYS the end result. It is really very simple.
