The Mises Organization is NOT the final arbiter of what libertarianism is and can, in fact, suck my dick.

There can be three nominees. The two-party system the U.S. has settled into essentially shuts out anyone that doesn't identify with the two major parties. There are plenty of people that feel like the two do not represent their values, but third parties in this system are very weak. Ron Paul is a great example of a Libertarian. He tried to run as a Republican though so he would have more appeal and a better chance to win.

Yea, pretty much what I meant. The same is going for Rand Paul he is a constitutionalist running as a republican.

Well, I wouldn't mind a 3 party system personally. That way the democrats would always have a majority, leaving the 2 halves of the republican/libertarian party fighting over the scraps.

Yea, it's funny how closed minded the people who think they are the voice of reason can be. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

Let me ask you this, since, with 23,580 posts you have more to say to people than just about anyone else in this forum's history: why do you slam the Mises Institute?
Who said anything about a "final arbiter"? A link to an author that does a great job of summing up most facets of modern libertarian discourse, that is posted on Mises.org, causes you to become juvenile and hostile?
I don't get it.
You have given no reason why the article itself does or does not display a good, broad, referenced explanation to the actual principles that underlie the philosophy that is loosely called "libertarian".
Are you going to?

It would be a nightmare having one party dominate the field; that's just one step away from authoritarianism.

There are ways to resolve this. With the way electoral college votes go, 48 of the 50 states are winner take all. Which means if a candidate wins by 1 popular vote in Texas, he takes all 34 electoral votes. If it were done by percentage, the candidates would receive a proportional amount of electoral votes to their popular votes. This would better represent 3rd parties. It probably wouldn't change much in the presidential race, but for Congressional elections, 3rd party candidates would have a better shot of becoming a representative or senator.
