Indeed, some of the caps are very light, pale yellow, I agree I think the location of the fruits influences morphology. Here's some pics of my finds from last year, the younger ones that were growing inside of the log had lighter, paler caps I'm assuming from less light exposure?

Mine mostly seem really orange. I went out yesterday and pulled together enough for a dose. Check out the green pin prick stains on this baby!

Nice find those must just be lil ugly patch. Look for big fallen logs nearby NOW.

I combed those woods fairly thoroughly, haha. I'm not finding big huge flushes at all. Most of my finds are only one or two on a log. However, the woods are full of them! I found six different logs with fruits! I started studying last year a little too late into the season to find anything, so these are my first finds. Mad props to you Rhizo, because I read a lot of your stuff while I was learning these! Check out the scales on this beast, this one was getting a little older. It also has a green pin-prick stain on it.
