norse mythology question. "thors hammer" - (Mjölnir)
    #20212832 -

Then he gave the hammer to Thor, and said that Thor might smite as hard as he desired, whatsoever might be before him, and the hammer would not fail; and if he threw it at anything, it would never miss, and never fly so far as not to return to his hand; and if be desired, he might keep it in his sark, it was so small; but indeed it was a flaw in the hammer that the fore-haft was somewhat short. [6] - from wiki,

My question is  " and the hammer would not fail, and if he threw it at anything, it would never miss, and never fly so far as not to return to his hand" seems like an oxymoron, fly so far as not to return to his hand? the short handle would barley let it move out of his hand, an then he couldn't throw it or maybe even release it from his grip.  It said he could throw it and fit it in his sack so that's where I'm confused... Maybe binded but un-bound outside of combat.  I'm thinking a throw hammer attack is bad ass.  Maybe he's just  a bad ass who can never lose his main hand weapon.  Just wondering thanks fer ur time but its only tuesday so that sucks.

The way the wiki has it worded, it appears to seem like a grammatical error.  Thor can throw his hammer and he can expect it to always be returned to his hand.  He can throw it an indeterminable amount of distance and it flash right back to his man among men sized fist.
