Compost Question
    #2018324 - 10/17/03 05:38 PM (13 years, 6 months ago)

A local compost producer is selling compost that is sifted cow manure, bark and leaves. Will this work for cubensis cultivation? Should they be grown on this, or this mixed with straw?

cow manure .....
leaves .......  :shake:
bark .........

you want a bulk you can spawn into after it is pasteurised. hard to pasteurise something with bark or wood or sticks in it. not sure about the leaves, there's something in the FAQ experimental section, but it's in that section for a reason.

good luck. if you know the farmer, just get the cow turds, and mix it with the straw you mentioned.

Even though the compost is totally broken down, it still wouldn't be effective?

Reading through TMC doesnt' mention compost made in this way. I wodner WTF I should do????? It's got cow shit, thats agood... I think I'm going to look at it, if the leaves/bark look very broken down, basically if it looks like cowshit with no obvious chunks of bark or leaves, I think it'll work.
thoughts?

More thoughts on this - peat moss basically consists of broken down trees, bark, and leaves, so maybe this will be sort of an admixture of peat like materials with composted shit?

I got it today. 20$ and they filled up the back of my truck with it(!!!) I couldn't use that in a hundred years, all but about 5 gallons of it went into my yard. It looks like shit with some chunks of wood in it. I think if I manage to get out the big pieces of wood, I'm gnna be set. Thx
