idk, ive been going to edm shows and events for like 6 years now and ive literally never heard about this kinda shit really happening


maybe i just associate myself with really good people, but honestly, this shit is unheard of

the edm scene is fucking awesome and nothing to be afraid it, its awesome and everyones so friendly and down to make new friends. i recently traveled with 20 people from boston to CO for a festy and i havent known any of them for over 18 months

as far as friendly people go, its probly the best music genre with a true "scene". everybody loves everybody (for the most part lol)

Like rave is underground, but they also through stuff that will be at a business like a gamecenter or something.

Those are cool. I just show up drunk there, don't have to worry about getting stabbed. If I recognize someone then I'll have an enjoyable night.

People that go into the city for those fest are hardcore EDM people. I'm just a party person, I don't dance at home in a mirror.

rave IS underground, exactly

to me, raves are illegal parties happening at undiclosed locations. where some random ass local DJ is spinning and its really moreso about the party/drugs than the music/DJ

theyre out there, but its not something anyone can just find out about

I was at a "rave" on the east coast and it had the most shady characters ive ever encountered in my life. Some old ass dude who looked like a rapist that was only there for like 30 mins, he straddled the stairs and had such a fucking creeping look on his face, he couldn't walk normally and he looked like one sketchy fucker. You would make eye contact with him and he would get nervous as fuck and you could tell he was up to no good. People who were obviously doing surveillance, people trying to fit in when it was obvious they shouldn't have been there. People that acted shady as fuck/same as the people who seemed like they were doing surveillance/ shouldn't be there were trying to buy drugs. Rave sucked so hard I just sat outside drugged up, smoking weed and listening to the music from outside. Only fun part was watching the DEA/undercovers try so hard to buy from me/ other people there.

I'm sorry but I can't believe you if you refuse to post any sort of proof.

I've been part of the EDM scene for well over 15 years and the only time I've ever heard of anything like this was on a propaganda website probably started by the CIA. I've HEARD of people talking about this myth but I've been to hundreds of raves and met thousands of people and never met anyone who has experienced it or known anyone who has.

I've seen and heard about a lot of sketchy shit at sketchy shows but someone jabbing you with an AIDS needle (would have to be hypodermic filled with infected blood and they would have to squirt it, HIV doesn't survive long in open air) or drugging you with a needle to rob you at a crowded venue is pretty much unheard of. However this IS an urban myth stretching back since at least the 80s. There's been this exact same myth circulating on the internet for YEARS in different various forms and none of it has ever been substantiated. People HAVE jabbed people with needles or safety pins before, most likely as a "copycat crime" spawning from these urban myths, to scare the shit out of people.. and they are almost always caught and go to jail. They call them jabbers. And no one has ever gotten AIDs from it (at any show). The one guy that got AIDs was a prison guard, when an infected prisoner jabbed him with a syringe full of infected blood.

And if someone pricks me with a needle at a rave you can bet your ass I'd spin around in a split second and fucking lay that fucker to the floor in a heartbeat. That is if I didn't kill them. Without even thinking about it, it would just be instinct.

And every time someone posts this myth, it scares people away from whatever scene they are talking about.
One day it's the EDM/rave scene, then it's a rock show, then this or that. But usually always revolving around music. It's fear-based propaganda.
This is one of those things that everyone involved in the scene has heard about at some point, but funnily enough no one has ever seen or experienced or know anyone who has. Like it's some big epidemic of people going around jabbing people but yet there's no proof of it.

So if you are not going to post ANY sort of proof whatsoever, I cannot believe you. Because I've heard this story before.

This is like the story of the kid who took too much acid and thought he turned into a glass of orange juice.

Now I am not saying you are just straight up lying, I suppose it is possible you got pricked and drugged. There are definitely some crazy demented people out there and stranger things have happened. But the fact that you have been asked for proof and failed to provide anything makes it very suspect. If you post some proof I will believe you. But you certainly didn't get HIV from a pin prick.

I go to dub step shows all the time in minneapolis and always have a blast. I never buy drugs at shows since I like to test everything but everyone you meet is almost always very nice( there's always an asshole somewhere). I've only heard story's like this and never seen it happen or talked to anyone that had it happen. I got wiped at summer set last year but I guess I didnt mind that lol. I went to dancefestopia also and heard that someone was poking people with needles and there were a bunch of crackheads there...but that was in dirty ass Kansas city lol

I've heard that before too at shows. Yet no one at the show ever seems to have seen anything or heard anything about it (even the promoter and the venue itself). There's always some kid that hears these myths and then goes to a show and tells people there's a group of people running around jabbing people but I have yet to see any proof of it at all, even after talking with multiple club owners and artists. It's a popular urban myth. I'm sure a crazy crackhead or two has jabbed someone before... but this myth is pretty widespread and if it does happen is EXTREMELY fucking rare.

This story should not dissuade people from being a part of any scene. The same thing could happen on the subway or bus, or mcdonalds, or fucking anywhere.
But it's always attached to the rave scene or similar. If there's an epidemic of people jabbing people with drugged or infected needles, why don't they do it at crowded sporting events, or bars, or the mall? They only go to EDM events? I'm 90% sure this myth was probably started and spread by the CIA. 

Like I said I've heard about this story for many years and have been to hundreds and hundreds of shows and have never seen or met anyone this has happened to.

Sounds pretty fucked up OP. Are you sure you weren't just tripping and went into panic attack mode? I've been to so many festivals and stuff and have never even heard of anything like this happening. That said, I don't really go to much EDM stuff

I'm pretty sure I wasn't just tripping and going into panic mode. However, it is totally possible I was jabbed with some sort of sharp object that WASN'T a needle. I think it was still smart of me to check it out at the hospital - there is a mark on my back and I just wanted to make sure that a virus wasn't passed on. I'm glad i'm taking meds and seeing doctors to be safe, but I'm hopeful that I'll be fine.

these are just stories ive heard about west coast raving, ive never been out there, im an east coaster...west coast rave scene seems like its really dominated by insomniac and the shitty bullshit lineups they throw out time after time so honestly im all set on that










and yeah, everyones making all these shitty generalizations about "raves"...like bc one dude was tripping and freaked himself out over a urban myth, you never wanna go out to electronic music events now? thats ridiculous

honestly its a better scene than a LOT of music scenes, the people are awesome, just super friendly and down to party with whoever, everyones really accepting and open minded, and oh yeah, were spunions too, so thats cool

the chicks are hot, the drugs are fun, the production is fucking top notch, the scene is getting bigger and these festivals are the modern day rock concerts...if you guys have never expeienced a festival at least focused on electronic music, then your truly missing out on your generations best and craziest events
