Yeah I dunno what metal he's listening to but the metal I listen to the bass players would out-shred 99% of guitar players from any musician in any other genre you could think of.

I appreciate the warmth and feel of bass.  Its so fucking relaxing to get in that pocket and just groove.  Proper bass techniques take a really long time to learn.  Dunno....  I fucking love bass.

I should post a video of me playing Bass. I'n not conceited or egotistical, I swear, but I admit that I know my shit. I worked for it though. Been playing since age 12, so about 11 years of 6-8 hours of practice a day, in the beginning, it was even more. I can't practice that many hours nowadays because work, but I am in 3 projects, always recording or playing gigs when I can.

People who think bass is easy sound like children. I haven't had a "which is easier, bass or guitar?" discussion since literally 6th grade. Most people see 4 strings and think that makes it easier. Haha, I've seen some great guitar players play bass like a nerdy soulless white boy.

Slappa daa basssss mon.

But for real, I don't really care but being that bass is the only thing I'm proud of myself for, I should post some stuff.

You dont play music do you? Anyone that has played
In a band can tell you that an amazing bassist makes the Whole band better.
Ive been playing bass since I was 14. Unless you play punk rock, there is nothing fail or easy about bass. We are the anchor of harmony and masters of groove.

I recently picked up bass about a month ago after playing guitar for a few years. I don't know if its just
cause its something new, but I enjoy playing bass much more than a guitar. It's also easier to play (to me)

I started on Bass, moved on to guitar. Been playing for about 20 years now and would love to hop back on a bass. its about the rhythm,, and emphasizing drum beats in my opinion. a good bassist will wow a good guitarist.

they are almost different beasts

A good bassist will not only wow a good guitarist, but make that guitarist sound even better than he really is.

I'm pretty sure a standard guitarist could just pick up a bass and start playing it..

Doesn't make them even a decent bassist.

This has already probably been said, but:
A lot of bassists are actually guitarists that weren't good enough to make lead guitar, so their friends talked them into picking up the bass for their band.

Glad to see you picked up on my humor.

I like bass more than guitar.
I can play bass, but not guitar.

I wasn't talking shit.
It's just something that occurs on occasion and it's something of a joke.
Noel Redding was that way.

The bassist in my previous band was originally a guitarist and we'd give him shit about it, but it was never serious.

A good bassist provides the ultimate backbone for the song and melds the guitars with the drums. That is their main role.
Here's a band where the bassist practically makes the band. Without him it wouldn't sound half as good.
(props to the drummer as well). Guitarists are sick as well, but the bass MAKES this band what it is.
(all those funky sounds you hear? That's the fretless 6 string bass) Guy is a fucking pro

Here he is jamming out to one of their songs. He enhances the guitars so much
