It's more of a personality thing.

It's the same instrument, same theory. Different playing style.

Yeah I would think they just enjoy the deep sounds of the bass more, which is kind of why I want to buy one

Most guitar players I know cannot play bass "well". I see it as a completely different instrument that takes it's own personality and skillset.

Ummm. The bass in my opinion is just as difficult.
You dont play music do you? Anyone that has played
In a band can tell you that an amazing bassist makes the Whole band better.
Ive been playing bass since I was 14. Unless you play punk rock, there is nothing fail or easy about bass. We are the anchor of harmony and masters of groove.

Most people don't even know what notes to play. Different groove.

A good bass line is more important than a good guitar riff, imo. Sets the atmosphere. I hate it when you can't hear the bass or it's just used as punch for the guitar/drums.

Bass is the glue which holds rhythm and melody together.

I don't play music, but I love the bass. Funkadelics, and Primus, and all that shit. Even the bass in dub music feels great to me.

Good post xlcaps. I agree nothing pisses me off more than
The fact that in the metal genre the bass follows the root chord of
Guitar or dblebass of drum

Dude it's a different animal. Sure they both have strings. But Competent  Bass players are probably more likely to pick up on other instruments more easily.

Right, and some also play bass and found it as their main niche.

Bass is hard, guitar is hard, playing music is difficult.

I think it just depends what genre or style you're talking about. When I was in the music scene for thrash metal I noticed a lot of bassists were created that way. People who sucked at guitar, but picked up a bass. However, if you're into more rhythmic or technical stuff, it seems more a personality issue. Playing funky bass rifts can be any bit as fun as any other instrument.

My ideal genre would be 70% bass 10% keyboard 20% Japanese girls yelling about hash and dick.
