If you made a concept album, what would it be?

I have a question for all you out there. Even if you're a musician or not, and you were hypothetically writing a hypothetical concept album of any style, what would it be? Any special features you might connect lyrics to music?
I've been thinking a lot about this recently, due to my recent further discovery of Pink Floyd.
Mine would be, somehow, about perception and reality. To show how input affects us, and how some senses might blur reality or blur themselves to change reality. There's some MAD interesting stuff to be done with the instrumental part of that, but i don't even know where to start...

Hmm.. a concept album...
If I were to make a concept album, it would probably have to be about...
Now, I know that I have always thought about making a concept album someday (an album that has different levels, as well, like the main concept is implied and isn't directly told... Rush's 2112 is pretty pathetic, in my eyes... hehe).
Black Sabbath once did a concept album about Norse mythology, although it was back in the '80's, when they were unheard of and had like some singer that obviously wasn't Ozzy or Dio, which means no Black Sabbath, but anyways, I guess it was pretty shitty.
I would probably do one based on Norse mythology. The lyrics, of course, would not like directly take on the stories themselves in any way, but the stories would serve as a sort of form or idea behind it...
Sort of hard to describe, I guess. I can't think of the word from literature class that basically describes it, but you might know what I mean, heh.. Peace.

Heh, I am currently queued for this album "Tyr" (the god who's hand was bitten by the wolf Fenris, he was brave and put his hand in the wolf's mouth as a sign that they wouldn't do any harm to him, and then, of course, they bound him, and Tyr lost his hand...), but I am not expecting much, as it was from the low point of Black Sabbath's career... It was also done in 1990, not in the 80's. The singer was Tony Martin (no clue who that was), thank god Dio came back in '92 for an album...
I checked out the lyrics, as well, to see what kind of concept they put into use. Not much of a concept at all, actually. My concept is quite more expansive and complete (that is, it will be when it is formulated, heh). Peace.

I guess id do the songs in such an order that theyd summarize the feelings in a trip really well.

my art is intended to show the malleability of perception ... musically that isn't as easy to accomplish, but it would definitely still play a part if i made a concept album it would loosely be about somebody's loss of grip on reality, and the journeys that they go through once beyond the shrouding veil of perception

Heh, I was going to say something to that effect as well, HB.
Losing grip on reality, songs in order of a trip... sounds like Pink Floyd and TOOL to me, respectively.. Peace.

yeah, loss of reality is definitely a Floyd concept, but rather than the unveiling the shroud of perception, it's more the loss of reality into insanity. Rob K, where ever he is, was going to do an album where each song is about different stages in a trip. I wonder when he's comin back....

I found Shpongle's '..And the day turned to night' very interesting, i'd love to make an album that blends from dreamstate music to afternoon lounging to late night partying and back to dreaming all in 70 minutes or so.

I'm sure Strump could tell you more about it, but that song is why they formed. They wanted to capture an eclipse into music, and so they wrote that song.
from www.allmusic.com :
"Simon Posford and Raja Ram are Shpongle, an ambient techno/trance project formed in 1996 after the pair viewed a solar eclipse in India. The two went into the studio and attempted to duplicate the experience in sonic form, and the result was a 20-minute track, "...And the Day Turned to Night," which was featured on a Twisted label compilation titled Eclipse."
