Another ID? Cubes or what? florida pasture pick
    #2004500 - 10/13/03 03:43 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

Hi I picked these along with a bung of cubes. They were hangin out over bu a tree. They seem totally brown on top and pretty pick with large fat stem. I think the bottom left one is def. a cube. Tell me what you think:

Peace, ORizon

in the second picture: the one at top left, and indeed all but the bottom left specimen look to have a cinimon gill clor. this would not agree with P. cubensis.

where they growing from dung, terestrialy or direclty under the above mentioned tree?

it does not look like it from the picture but was there an annulus present in any of these specimens?

next; did you print any of them? this will be an important feature and should never be omited from a description.

i thank you for what patience you have shown and i appolpgise for seeming rude.

it will be of greatest help [and is forum policy] if you would post the best description you can. i recomend following the guidelines in the sticky thread titled "please read this before posting an id request".

The one in the bottom left is probably Psilocybe Cubensis.

The other three are not Cubes.
-Those other three aren't cubes.

Lucky for you, it is always easy to tell a cube by it's deep blue bruising.

not always.
not often, but occationaly, you will come across a cubensis that simple does not bruise, or if it does so, will not bruise untill you attempt to dry it.

That one on the bottom left Im almost postive is a cube. The bluing on the stem is really showing after I dried it (along with my other cubes) This field I go to unfortuantely is scattered with lepiotas...and even though the gills are usually white or green, they still can become a brownish color simialar to the cubes with age. And that brown nipple on top of those damn molyblites doenst help either.

in time you'll come to be able to recognize the lepiotas from across the field.

glad to hear you where right on the one.

i'd throw the others out.

good luck,
be safe and
happy hunting.

peace,
concrete.
