I just want to grow massive food forests... I took some mud from the last rain at my dad's house and made a brick with some straw and let it bake in the sun. That is the real prize.  What was the last thing any of you built?  Didn't it feel good to work with your hands and labor over what might seem trivial?


Well perhaps it was just me.  Anyway I just had a thought.  I wonder how many ppl would be down to built something like a Shroomery Mission. A place for weary travelers on the road of life to come and escape.  Whatever I'm just super high off scissor hash.  I could see it now.  Trippers rescued from New Idria...:shrug:

Were all going to die we are using up way to much oil. bladieblahdie boohoo. Like people don't already know, yet im not gonna spend a minute less on-line. Let it come, perhaps i die, perhaps everyone around me dies. In the end it will balance out. As oil comes more of a luxury less people will drive. Period. Investments in green power will become more viable. The population in India will stabilize as it will growth wealthier. Family size gets smaller as wealth increases and social care gets into place. Most of those families are so big because the older people need the younger kids to take care of them.

I understand your paranoia, but no one can prove that oil graph for one. No one can foresee the future. The only thing I'd worry about is the US government and how it reacts when finally it will go bankrupt. A cornered rat can do strange things. This is what the rest of the world should worry about. Not world population, there's enough food to go round with. It has been very shit in the past, it will be shit in the future. Be glad your living in that golden stretch we call now.

Its not gonna happen quick enough to prevent a lot of bad shit going down before we pull our heads out our ass's and realize how stupidly fuckin ineffective our use of resources is. There are massive fuckin problems with the way we live, It doesnt take a genius to figure out that all of it is unsustainable using current methods and almost all  green technologies have no market for implementation we dont even have enough rare metals for world wide implmentation of the technologies that require them, and like any other species that makes it past its carry capacity there is a inevitable pop off.

Nothing about it is going to go as smoothly as you wish it would.

I try to look at the optimistic side as much as possible. It had me depressed for a good week when I realized the sheer gravity of what is going on. I have always thought the way we do things wouldn't work out, but when I saw the facts of how unsustainable our way of life is, it really hit me. Not really depressed now, just preparing. The bright side is, I might actually start to run into some decent folks like yourselves here on the shroomery (also some distraught beings as well :crazy2:). I'm meeting more and more people who are aware, and I do hope this will be the catalyst that will move us into living the way humans were meant to. But it's a gonna be a long haul. But maybe not so bad.

Peace to you all fellow shroomerites. And I hope that on the other side of this shit coming down, I run into the ones who are awake and ready to change! It could be really beautiful in time if we play it right.

Worse still, it is oil that keeps all those billions of people (especially you, not the African farmer growing his anemic crop with his bare hands) alive.

The fuel of the economy will run out. Natural resources will run out. The world economy will collapse and the money you have will be inflated out of your hands - within YOUR lifetime.

If we are LUCKY the great grandchildren of some of us will live in a world with 1/10 the current population. Whether this will come through massive worldwide birth control or a mass dying of billions of people will depend on the path we take as a species.

Ten, twenty years from now you might not be able to afford being online. You might not even have a home. Worst case scenario, you might not even be alive.

Nine tenths of the world population is alive today only by the grace of cheap abundant oil, and that is running out fast.

That link only covers the U.S., I'm not sure how other countries compare so I'm gonna investigate a little bit.

There's no question that we are pretty much savagely raping this planet, everyday I read about the impact we have on the environment, both negative and positive(like planting trees to stop desertification and erosion)..and well, it just makes me sad because it feels fruitless..people have to change their attitudes as a whole, that's the only way to reverse the atrocious footprint mankind has left on this planet.
