Foggy head/chronic fatigue, what the hell is wrong with me?!
    #19850136 -

When I was around 16 I started having issues with brain fog/being tired all the time. I'm now in my 20s, the situation has only worsened. I sleep for about 12-14 hours a day because it's the only thing that temporarily reduces my brain fog. I'll sleep about 10-12 hours at night then I have to take a 1 hour nap in the early afternoon (11am - 1pm), and then another later in the evening (4-7pm). It's ruining my life!

Other symptoms:
- I eat a lot of food and I'm hungry all the time.
- poor circulation: my hands, feet, ears, and nose are always cold whereas my chest area is often too hot.
- Bad allergies, issues with excess flem, runny nose year round.
- sensitivity to light, especially artificial light.
- excessive thirst, drinking 2-3 gallons of water/day.

What I have tried thus far to fix the problem:
- See my Doctor, my doctor tested me for thyroid issues, diabetes, he had me get a comprehensive blood analysis and everything came out normal. He eventually told me "I have no idea what's wrong with you."
- I read that Candida overgrowth in the GI tract can cause my symptoms, so I spent a couple months aggressively treating that sickness; zero improvements in my symptoms.
- Eating healthy, also I've tried a couple different diets, one of them was eliminating allergy causing foods diary, nuts, gluten etc.
- exercising more often, I do rigorous weight lifting and cardio at least 3 times a week; only after taking a nap.
- taking stimulants such as caffeine, instead of making me feel energized they make me feel psychotic.
- Treating stress and depression, I've done things to make my life less stressful, like reducing the number of classes I take and hours I work. I'm taking herbal remedies Rhodiola and Ashwagandha which are supposed to help with stress. And I'm taking St. John's Wort and 5-HTP to treat possible depression/low serotonin and dopamine issues.
- Not doing drugs, I almost never smoke weed, drink alcohol or do any drugs anymore.

None of these treatments have improved my symptoms, my symptoms are severely affecting my life. It is so difficult to live life and do stuff like work, school, or enjoy my self. I used to feel so good and my body used to require little maintenance. Now I do everything to help my body and it only fights against me. I cannot live like this much longer, it's too much struggle.  :suicide:

If any of you might know what's wrong and how to fix it let me know please! Although this thread will probably just get one or two replies then die because the problem is so obscure. :frown:

I know you said otherwise, but OP you may have chronic candida overgrowth, are eating too much of the wrong kinds of foods, too much fruit juices and acidic stuff, too much sugar in some kind of form.  The yeast create toxins and cravings for more food mostly sugar.  If you don't give it to them, they get mad at you.  They make you tired, they make you take naps in the middle of the day.  You have to stop feeding them.  This means to change your diet longer term.

Too much water?  Why are you so thirsty?  Could it be you have an electrolyte imbalance?  Are you eating too much bad salt?  Are you eating any really good salts?  Try some Himalayan Pink Crystal, get a grinder and get it coarse then grind it fine.  The flavor difference and impact on your body is dramatic vs. "table" salt.

My diet literally lately consists of one meal a day.  A pound of ground grass fed buffalo, lentils, rice, peppers, onions, garlic, good salt, black pepper, hot sauce and olive oil.  That's it.  You need fiber, beans are OK but lentils rock.  Protein, fiber, and easier to digest by a long shot than beans.

Or, maybe you got a bad ticker and/or early stage congestive heart failure.  Been to an internist?

Mental health.  Will improve once the candida start to bail.  Hit them with some probiotics every day they hate that.

When you talk about your special Himalayan salt it reminds me of this::rofl:

Good thing he caught it!

That looks more like a sea salt.  Probably Celtic type based on the color and wet appearance.  OP might try that, but I really think the Himalayan is the ticket.

Without ignoring ANYTHING, list what you eat/drink for an entire week.  Even cups of water, coffee, etc.  If you do that without any omissions, you will most likely find the problem

All that stuff is fine I think.

Age:23,
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 135
Blood pressure: it's usually around 100 systolic and 60 diastolic I think. I would have to double check that but every time I've had my blood pressure checked the doc/nurse said it was fine.
Resting heart rate: in the 60s

Diet:
Breakfast: usually organic eggs with some organic mulit-wholegrain bread, sometimes some pork. Whole grain cereal with lactose free milk sometimes. I drink unsweetened jasmine green tea + echinacea tea for breakfast.

Lunch: usually a Turkey sandwich on wholegrain bread with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, mayo. For drink I will have lightly sweetened with honey and cane sugar homemade green iced tea.
Homemade sauteed chicken in olive oil with spinach, bell peppers, onions, and garlic.

Dinner: Homemade pastas such as spaghetti, chicken fettuccine Alfredo.
Organic grilled steak with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, onions, garlic. (I love onions, peppers, and garlic)
Salmon on the skillet in olive oil with onions, peppers, and garlic and some white jasmine rice.

Snacks: apples with organic freshly ground almond butter.
bananas with cinnamon.

I have to say that I eat a lot healthier than most people, it hasn't reduced my brain fog.

Johnny Depp said:
You mentioned you have allergies.  It could be related to that, and you said you tried diet related shit.  But does just taking an anti-histamine help?  That would point to allergies as a cause.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that, I've tried 3 different OTC anti-histamines, non of which reduced my runny nose and flem production, only made me have a dry mouth.

LunarEclipse said:

I went on a super hardcore anti-candida diet for 4 months I ate zero sugar and very few carbs. I ate nothing but meat and vegetables the entire time. I ate plain (no sugar added) organic yogurt. For supplements I took caprylic acid, oil of oregano, and took ultra potent probiotic supplements with every meal. The diet yielded zero improvements in any of my symptoms.

I'm at such a fucking loss with my piece of shit body, I'm ready to throw it in the garbage can it's so pathetic. Most people abuse the fuck out of their bodies and feel great. I treat my body perfect and it just runs terribly anyways. :grrr:
This brain fog is ruining my life, it looks like I'm going to fail out of Engineering school because I cannot focus. :frown:

I'm probably going to go visit a naturepath doctor or some kind of alternative medicine doctor, because my medical doctor couldn't help at all. I'm just looking for someone who seems legit, some seem like real quack jobs and scammy.

I would seriously look at the Paleo diet. Eating gluten free is not enough. You should avoid all grains. Check out some Paleo books and websites. Do it for 6 months at least without cheating. Eating gluten once can set a reaction for 6 months. And check everything you eat. Gluten is hidden in everything. Good luck. I hope you get to the bottom of it.

You just need a doctor who is willing to hunt zebras with you.

Your issues could be caused by so many things.  You need to systematically go through every medical test known to man.  Maybe your current doctor is discouraged from having a patient that eludes diagnosis after so much work.  Find a doctor who is willing to work with you.  Preferably who has an office in a hospital.  You may be getting all sorts of imaging done, or seeing different specialists as different theories arise.  I wouldn't go the alternative medicine route until I pursued traditional avenues to the end.

Yeah man, could be anything. It could even be all in your head, and you racking your brain about why you are so tired is making you tired...

Also your diet looks awesome from a nutritionist point of view, but as an ex-nutrition major let me say that textbook nutrition is pretty much garbage unless you have a specific disease where you have to eat a certain way. We have no idea what we are talking about when we speak of nutrition beyond the very basics. Ask yourself if you are eating what your body wants or if you are eating what you THINK you should be eating. Try "intuitive eating." Google it!

Also...maybe your just sleeping too much in general? Cut out the caffeine and don't let yourself sleep more than 8 hours...

Just trying to play the devils advocate

OP is still eating wheat with virtually every meal.  He's allergic to it, but can't seem to stay off it.

OP you really don't need effing grains and breads with every meal.  They are literally shit.  Insect shit, rat shit, mold.  You have to stop!

I think you are very skinny for your height.  You need fats, not carbs.  Way more fats.  As in other than just olive oil.  135 and 5'10"?  And 100/60 BP?  It's no wonder you feel faint.

I am thinking you have circulatory issues.  Bad heart valve?  Sleep apnea could be part of this.  Neuropathy from lack of O2?

Get off the freaking grains, that's a first step.  It just pisses me off the brainwashing people get to eat stupid breads and spaghetti.  Trust me, I used to be like that, and still can fall back into the bread mode.  Bread tastes good, but it's SHIT!

Not saying this will help your issue, but i'd start supplementing with coconut oil and cod liver oil. Get some good fats in you. Your weight is definatley too light for your height. Also, again not saying this is a cure or anything but i find yoga EXTREMELY helpful in maintaining wellness in the body. Stomach ache? Yoga. Head ache? Yoga. Back ache? Yoga.

Will be back to this thread gref. I know what chronic illness feels like and how debilitating it can be. It may be a long process getting well, you have to take it day by day. But as long as you are better understanding how your body reacts to certain things, you are getting closer to understanding what the problem is. Don't give up mate, i've been ill for nearly 2 years and in the last 3 months have shown MASSIVE improvement. Fuck the doctors, you have to take it into your own hands. Keep reading, keep learning, keep trying. Eventually balance will be restored, and you will be stronger for it. Even able to help others with the mass of knowledge you will have accumulated.

Well don't listen to me, but your diet isn't nearly as good as you think it is.  You are allergic to wheat, addicted to it in fact, and consume it every meal.  Do as you will, you obviously know best.

Could it be something related to the place you live ie. toxic elements in the water, toxic levels of essential elements in the water, hidden mold? Have you been away from the house for long enough to tell if these issues or even others that aren't being considered are a problem?

Do you feel excessively worn out after your workouts or do you feel they are doing you good?

Has your personality been affected, your brain n all?

Have any of the remedies you have tried shown noticeable improvements?
