Do you know what Idaho's cash crop is? * 1
    #19787872 -

[the below events may, or may not, be based on a real life situation--dialogue is paraphrased and, of course, is a fiction]

Whether you knew this or not, I've been travelling around the USA for the last couple months--jumped on a bus to Houston--cruised into New Orleans--than turned around towards the southwest--spent a time moving around various places--New Mexico, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, Idaho...

Muther fuckin' Idaho...

Pulled over doing 79mi in a 75mi zone by some shit head Idaho state trooper--the spiel begins: Do you have any drugs in the car? marijuana, meth, cocaine, money?

*blahblah*No.

It won't be a problem if I bring a drug dog in then, right?

.
..
...
[wait fifteen minutes]
...
..
.

Alright, this is how we do this--my dog will find any illegal drugs in this car--so you should just give use the drugs now and we will let you go--cuz if you lie to us, there will be big trouble--is there anything illegal in the car?

No.

Ok--step outside, and I'll bring officer k9 around to have a whifff

as I stand on the grass in the ditch, I watch a dog walk around a car and jump around and "trigger"--the cops start digging--and there is a lot of digging to do, because the car is full of random shit--eventually, and after a lot of effort on their part, the pigs arrive at a backpack that they claim is mine--and inside of the bag is another bag with a bowls worth of ganja--along with a couple of pipes for smoking of said ganja--as well as a lighter and pack of rollies--the scent is found!

burrowing deeper dem pigs begin to encounter unknown territory--cookware? stoves?? dirty socks??? sleeping bag???? LSD?????

jackpot

eyes-a-glowin'--they walk up to me--ask if this is LSD--slipping my buddy a "get out of jail free" card, I nod and receive my handcuffs

BOOM

goodbyefriendputincardrivetojail

.
..
...
i start flexing knowledge on this mofo of an officer--announcing the fact that he is arresting me for substances that i consider to be beneficial to my personal health; mentally, spiritually, physically--waxing on about how MDMA is being studied as part of a treatment of PTSD, and then moving on about how LSD and psilocin are helping those with terminal illnesses to come to terms with their own impending death, allowing them to have a higher quality of life in their final days--then my dirty ass was dropped off at the station for it's bookin

dem idaho pigs didn't know how to book a canadian into their system--so they had to suffer in the smell of an unwashed travellers stahnk much longer than they would have preferred--which was quite fine by me because all cops are bastards--eventually they charge me with possession of ganja, misdemeanor--possession of paraphernalia to smoke ganja, misdemeanor--and possession of LSD, felony

in the slammer, i wait around for a few days--shooting the shit--bail is made

[proceeds to lawyers office]

This is about the time where I am finally made aware of the circumstances of my situation

i think,
hmmmmmmmmmmm
i do not know anyone in idaho
i have no reason to ever come back here again
i've seen a helluva lot of the states before this point, so i can chill out on the states in general
idaho is a corrupt as fuck for-profit-prison-industry state where the fourth amendment don't exist no more
i've seen enough of the usa--i'm tired of this police state
i hit the road

crossed the border from Washington to BC 13hrs later

FUCK YOU GOODING COUNTY, IDAHO

THIS IS ONE CANADIAN YOU'LL NEVER GET

the final kicker?

the arresting officer, i found out later, is dieing of a terminal illness

I mean you can't really be mad at police officers who catch you with drugs, especially after you've lied to them about it, who then arrest you. That's how it goes, you got caught. Also seems like you got away, bug from what your saying I don't see anyone at fault but yourself.

Police profiling - it isnt always about race and sometimes they do have a point.

I'm glad you got the hell out of there.

The war on drugs, you had a close call.

I would have guessed Idaho's cash crop is the potato.

I'm going to make an exception in this case--as mentioned, I've already driven through multiple states without issue--pulled over within the first five hours of idaho for a speeding infraction that they never issued a ticket for (it was never because of speed that the vehicle I was in was pulled over--rather, the out of state license plates did that).

once they had me pulled over, the dance began--forced to wait fifteen minutes on the side of the road will the pig relates me identification over the radio--conveniently, the identical amount of time it took for an officer with a drug dog to turn up

and then forced to wait another ten minutes while they go through every individual item in the vehicle--because the dog didn't trigger for shit and they were still searching blindly hoping for a hit from the dirty bearded guy

the probable cause that held up this entire search as constitutional was that "i looked nervous upon being pulled over" (note, i was not even the driver of the vehicle)--but in the state of idaho, being nervous is probable cause--heck, just about anything goes for probable cause is the good ol' state of idaho

and the only reason i got out is because i have friends who were willing to put up bail for me--so that i could flee the country--otherwise, i'd still be sitting in a shitty county jail waiting for another court date so i could be one day closer to actually being sentenced--being used as a commodity in their for-profit prisons industry the entire time

basically--don't drive through idaho with out of state plates and expect to not be pulled over and forced to submit to the same search--i honestly didn't really think such shit could actually happen--i've survived multiple seasons of hitching around canada without any problem--couldn't last five hours actually driving through idaho like a respectable person--lesson learned, i will be avoiding the USA until drugs are legal there--quarter of the worlds prisoners... now i know why! the judge who was in charge of deciding my case also had stock in the prison i would serve me time in...

i was already arrested at this point--didn't expect him to release me for my views, but at least i could learn this cop that LSD does more than cause 'synthesia'--if you made the connection from the story, this is the cop dying of a terminal illness--and i informed him that LSD and other psychedelics have begun to show in studies that they can increase the quality of life for people in his exact situation--and he was instead attempting to lower my quality of life for non-violent possession of this substance--i'm not sure if he took some home with him for experimentation--he probably didn't--but the thought of him dying soon is it's own condolence

i would insert "drove into idaho" somewhere in that equation--but that's about right--the moral of this story is never to go into idaho

i didn't--they conveniently take fifteen minutes to run your information and at the end, a drug dog has magically shown up

long story short; idaho potatoes are flavourless turds that are only suitable for being turned into mcdonalds french fries--the real money is in the prisoner crop

Hopefully you at least thanked your friends after you skipped bail.
