I think this is a great Idea I have some spots that I know of. But I am sure there are more out there...

This is a terrific idea. I belive there is not too much, but sooo much info on cultivation, compared with hunting. This would ice the cake for the Shroomery :smile:
Not only could people of the Americas share their local hunting ground(s). But people from all over the globe could learn new spots and maybe hunt other mushrooms that grew soo close yet not knew about. Whatdoya think Aphex, NightChild?
Don't forget about the fly agaric section either :smile:

In america, the harvesting, cultivation, consumption, possession, or sale of mushrooms containing psilocybin, or psilocyn is against the law, since both are schedule 1 control substances.

Granted, info on hunting 'em would be great, remember, its just as illegal (and a lot more public) than anything talked about in the cultivation section.

I think sharing the location of prime hunting grounds is a very good idea in theory. But, not all the people that read these forums have a positive motive in mind. I'm sure that many law inforcement officers read these forums every day, and posting information that would make it easier to find mushroom hunters would not be a good idea. I try not to be too paranoid about things like this, but this is a case where discretion is EXTREMELY advisable. It's your choice guys, but please be careful. :smile:

I don't think too many of us are in one location to have our spots raped, plus the forum would also concern working with and identifying wild species. Also there are other mushrooms that are good to eat and or trip off of other then the Stropharia Family / Psilocybe genotype.

I think that giving away picking spots would be a bad idea for a couple of reasons. Not so much law enforcement, but the fact that next time one would want to go back and get some schrooms, poof, no more schrooms. What I think would be a good idea is a hunting forum where people can share the descritions of spots, better ways of hunting, times of year.....ext. A lot of people including myself would be very interested in a forum like this.

I must be a rare breed, when I go hunting I do not rape my spots, I take what I need for myself and sometines one friend. Mother Nature rewards me in bountiful ways for not taking all of the gifts provided by her. Treat her right and she will take care of you.
