How to tell if you are a nutter

If you believe something extraordinary without evidence, then you probably are a nutter. If you base your life's directions and actions around such a belief, then you definitely are a nutter.

I believed that AAA wouldn't tow my van, then I prayed to the Tow Gods, and asked again, and YEAH and verily it shall be done!

My evidence said NO, then I called Membership Services and pled my case whilst praying and braying to the TOW GODS and she asked the super and yeah and verily it was done.

If I believe that I have proof that something is anchored in an absolute objective reality while all I really have are perceptions and interpretations, does that make me a nutter?

I don't think it makes you a nutter, but it does make you confused.

Very likely. Belief, interpretation and certainty are not pointers to objective reality.

I have asked hundreds of UFO nuts how they can link a light in the sky to another star system and to date, not one cogent answer. The best they have is the argument from incredulity or the argument from ignorance.

This is the same for religion, astrology, crop circles, chi, chakras, mind control, ESP and so on.

Projection and misinterpretation rule the undisciplined thinker.

But is the what so much as the why?
Someone can have one or two wacky beliefs that don't compromise their sanity, if they aren't investing their self definition into their beliefs as a defence mechanism to the fear underneath.
I think it's when the fear really grabs hold you tip over that cliff into the nutter abyss.
