some comedian set up this fake starbucks shop.  it blew up, spread via the web, people started showing up - lining up for hours on end, etc.  eventually it got shut down by the local govt (i think) because it wasn't a registered business and didnt have any permits.  it was set up by some comedian (nathan something, if i remember correctly) for his upcoming TV show.


it was on drudgereport for a few days

Yeah, we know Nathan Fielder set it up.  That's the whole point.  You must not have seen Nathan For You yet.  It's a brilliant show.  New season this summer on Comedy Central.  This stunt will no doubt be the subject of the first episode.  But anyway, even though it's a joke, the stores are real.  So wouldn't it be hilarious if it succeeded to the point where it drove the real Starbucks out of business?  Oh god, I'd cum if that happened. 

pwnasaurus, have they actually opened the new store yet?  I saw a clip of Nathan on the Kimmel show where he talked about opening another location, but I wasn't sure if it happened.

There is definitely a very snobby pretentious customer base that goes to starbucks. I worked at starbucks 8 years ago, and I work there now again, the same types of stupid dumb ass pretentious snobs go there. I also worked at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, whose customers base doesn't consist of pretentious twits.

Also, any brand that doesn't use STANDARD size names should be dacaffed as well. Come one, tall grande venti and now trenta? I PREFER if a customer calls it small medium large. Who cares.

While the thought of some uptight caffeineholic coming back repeatedly for decaf is hilarious, who the fuck are you to judge what people spend their money on?? Come on. I'm guessing you spend $15+ for a gram of plant matter you can grow yourself, and for many people the money may be worth it just for the convenience of coffee on the go. While I think what you do is funny, I'd throw my coffee in your face if you did it to me, and you'd deserve it. You sound like a worse person than the customers you hate.

There is a complete study done on people who drink caffeine.  Test subjects were given placebo and the other caffeine, yadda yadda.. The results were that if you don't tell anyone that you switched there caffeinated coffee to decaff they wont actually ever know.


This is EXACTLY what I figured out 8 years ago. I always thought that starbucks was really weak, it's almost as if they sell everyone decaf but yet their sales are based on a placebo effect.

Yah, I already knew that, more decaf.
