Jeep or a Truck?

In February I will be turning 25 which is the year car insurance goes down. When I was 22 I looked at buying a 2004 silverado and insurance on it would have been $312 a month!!! I did have one speeding ticket on my record but still over $300 a month is fuckin ridiculous. So I am deciding between getting a Jeep or a truck very soon.

I would either get a GMC Sierra or a Chevy Silverado if I got a truck. If I got a jeep I would want a Jeep TJ or

I am having a hard time deciding on which vehicle I want... Pros for trucks are that I can haul shit easier. I can use it to haul my atv without a trailer. More seats for people. And if I do decide to get a boat in the future, I can haul it much easier.

Pros for a Jeep are that I can off road with it. They are better on gas milage. Easier to park. And you can customize them to your liking alot easier.

Anyone have any input to sway me toward one or the other?

If you have an ATV and dont have a trailer, id go for the truck, need the extended cab though.

If you have a trailer, I'd go for the Jeep. More room for passengers and such.


Really depends. What do you do for work? Trucks are more utility than pleasure, if a truck isnt needed for hauling supplies, go for the jeep.

From my limited experience, I believe that Jeeps>Trucks.

I had a Jeep back in the day, it was VERY reliable and was eco-friendly.

Shit my bad I skimmed without realizing it lol. That shouldn't warrant $300/mo for insurance though. There's got to be something else.. I just turned 25 earlier this month myself and I went from $115 to $75. I would choke a bitch if they told me I had to pay that.

Somebody I know gets a 12 month insurance policy that is basically printed out...But remains inactive. The cost is under $100 for 12 months.

If you don't mind paying $60 for a week's worth of gas then go with the 15 to 16mpg Jeep.

If you don't mind paying $100 for a week's worth of gas then go with the 12mpg truck.

I've got a 87 Wrangler and I love it. I say get a Jeep. Jeep makes a nice truck too, if thats an option. Think its called a Brute

If you're buying a new vehicle, full coverage is mandatory. At least here it is. If the car/truck is over 5 years old you only have to get minimum coverage. A difference from 200-300 dollars a month in insurance to 50-100 at the most with PIP minimum.

It all depends on what you're using your vehicle for. I'd personally go with a Wrangler because of the higher gas mileage, and the fact that I go surfing and fishing frequently. If you're looking for comfort, go for the truck.

Depends on what your needs are. Trucks are definitely useful but then you'll have everyone you know bugging you to help them move something. I'd probably go with truck if mpg will be similar between the two. It's pretty nice just being able to throw shit in the back whenever.

I have a Jeep and a close friend with a truck. We ride ATV's a lot, as well. Having a truck bed that holds an ATV is super sweet, as you already seem to know. I still have a trailer for my Jeep that holds 2 ATV's though. Half the year when we ride it's in windy, wet, or snowy weather. We tend to unload on some uneven terrain. More than once we've had an ATV shift and slide coming off the bed of the truck and almost kill someone. So now, we only use the truck bed in sunny weather. If there's rain or snow, or even high wind, we trailer the ATV's.
