Naptha not completely separating from mimosa. Normal? Any tips?

Its a dark urine color, yellow but not exactly a tint of yellow, more like full I yellow. Are there any things I can do to help this situation? Any help is appreciated greatly.

A) Add more lye 1 gram at a time, and see if you can get it to separate.

B) Do the pull now, and do an acetone wash to clean your final product.

Is your top layer cloudy or just yellow?
I have had some dark yellow naptha in the past which yielded pretty decent crystals on the initial pull, getting progressively darker with each pull. How ever like I said you could clean that up with an acetone wash.

Ok awesome, can you explain an acetone wash for me if you don't mind? Also, are you sure pouring lye in at this stage would be wise? I've heard lots of suggestions ranging from burn it/stick it in the freezer/spin in circular motion/at salt/add lye. Sorry just trying to do this correctly, went through alot getting the mimosa.

You dissolve your extracted crystal into acetone, then recrystallize and allow it evap and all that. At least thats what I remember.

Can anyone tell me if the acetone wash can be done with 100% alcohol?

Also hen I put the naptha in the freezer it turned super cloudy, is that normal when put at low temps? It was clear before the freezer. Thank you.

No. Acetone wash means the acetone is selectively dissolving gunk and other stuff you don't want, and leaving the good stuff behind. It is the solvent properties of acetone that make it suitable for this task. Alcohol will dissolve just about everything, so it isn't useful as a wash.

In lieu of acetone, you could use MEK or ethyl acetate.

Thank you, I should have a huge bottle from making blends, I remember the acetone was better than alcohol, for a different reason though I'm pretty sure.

So if I let this dry out it should be good? This is how it should look correct? Is this average for a order pull? I don't have a working mg scale.
